Halo did a bit more for console shooters than COD did for PC shooters....I mean here we are playing COD4 and the formula still hasn't changed much (neither has Halo to be fair). But, When you take the effect both games had on there platforms it is without a doubt that the Halo series did a lot more than COD did. Halo single handly saved the Xbox and then Halo 2 went on to set the standard for Xbox Live.
First Call of Duty, terrific online action, mind-bogglingly intense campaign. I remember that I couldn't even finish three missions in one sitting because it was so draining.
i loved CE and it did alot for console FPS's but on a personal choice i liked COD4 better becuase it gives that intense battle sense that i love in games
Halo for me. I played COD1 after Halo, and it kind of felt like the halo of world war 2 shooters if you know what i mean. Had you played COD1 first, i'm sure Halo would have felt similarly derivative.

so? i got far in the second level but mannnn was it boring. got quite far in halo 2 though, but still was subpar compared to many fpses. when i played halo 3 i thought it was decent but only because i was playing coop. seriously i halo sp campaigns are really average at best

You cannot make a judgement on a game if you've only beaten the training level. Common sense.

Halo 1's campaign was incredible (back then atleast)
Both great games, but for me I enjoyed Halo 1 more. But I think COD1 didnt come out for afew more years after. It was awsome and a big step up compared to other WW2 at the time.
First the single player and story was just better. THe last mission where Flood vs Master Chief vs Convenant was amazing. The game had great missions. ALl 10 of them were amazing. Assault on the control room, silent cartagropher, even the library.

The games AAA PC scores back it up and it wasnt even made by Bungie at the time for PC.
See Bungie Halo 1 was great halo story telling. Way to F it up with Halo 2. Halo 3 was good though.
Now back to the MP. Death ISLAND WAS AMAZING. that and the mods were a blast.
Halo COmbat Evolved for PC was just fantastic.
Dang it Bungie i want something like Combat Evolved.
Something that was truly amazing and just well executed from the first level to the last level.
