Top one is PS3 version and bottome one is 360 version . looks like the 360 version is missing some details, what are your thoughts?

Someone already confirmed that the PS3 version is farther along in development and has a picture from a newer build of the game IIRC.

Thats weird because they have been working on the game since COD 2 came out and final PS3 dev kits werent even out then.

Nobody has said such a thing. The PS3 version is not ahead in development.

Stop getting fooled by these screen shots. They aren't current and are very misleading. The PS3 screen shot is from an early build; the Xbox 360 screen shot is from an even earlier build. That's why details are missing - they haven't been added yet.

The 360 is the primary SKU for Call of Duty 4 - the game is being ported to the PS3, and they are doing a really awesome job doing it.

NEWSFLASH:

it was confirmed earlier today (or yesterday?) by the devs that those images were both taken at different parts of the respective dev cycles for PS3 and 360, they said essentially this 'all this shows you essentially - is a glimpse into the progression of level design'.

they went on to say that PS3 and 360 use IDENTICAL assets in terms of textures, models, etc.

so no, 360 COD4 isn't missing details, the shot is just from an earlier build. ALSO - i think they decided to go with the green tint from the PS3 build, the blue tint was from an earlier build - which is too bad, i preferred the blue.

Yeah, like other people said, I believe the dev said that the PS3 is farther along than the 360, therefore that's the reason for the differences.

lol i just realized after i posted that 3 dev's already said that those are 2 different versions of the maps in the pix and that both systems will look identical...i can't believe this thread is still alive

During development we frequently tweak the color balances in the levels to achieve the look and feel that we're shooting for. What you're seeing in these two videos are two completely different visual **** for the level that were tried. That's why the older 360 shot has a distinct blueish tint, while the more recent PS3 shot shows the more appropriate middle eastern feeling lighting.

You can also some differences in the geometry in the two shots. Broken walls, windows, etc... Every level goes through at least one "detail pass". The designers will rough in geometry and do a certain level of detail, but it's the environment artists that really make each level shine. The version of the level shown in the PS3 shot has been through one or two more detail passes than the one shown in the 360 shot. That said, all levels (single player and multi) use identical geometry and textures across all platforms. If nothing else, the shots show an interesting look at the evolution of a level.

Thread #4 on this topic in the last 36 hours.

1) PS3 Screenshot is 2 builds after the 360 Screenshot.
2) Both are pre-beta and mean nothing when the final builds come out.
3) Developers say that both versions will be exactly the same in the end.
