I'm getting it on PS3 because it ran like a blazing turd on my PC when I played the demo. Guaranteed 60 FPS is a good thing.
Then again, I might not get it at all, seeing as the demo sucked and I hate Call of Duty 2 with a burning passion. If you've got a top-class PC, I say get the PC version hands down. But the mods for this game are ridiculously awful, so I'm not going to count that as a plus. When I play COD2 online, I have to dodge all the awful "rifles only" and "realism" mods.
if you got the pc to run it get the pc version, duh!Star67
CoD4=/=HL2 OJ Box.
With the majority of people going for HL2 Orange Box on 360 when there's literally no good reason to do so, I can't imagine people buying CoD4 on PC. HL2 OJ Box has the community, the dedicated servers, the mods in spades....and you can augment it on your Steam account with CSS, DODS, RO, etc.
CoD4 has trash mods, though, and runs like a turd on most PCs. Save controls, I don't get the appeal. On PS3 you can use KB&M though.

Lawls. Like an 8600? I don't think so.
DX10 has yet to confer anything but horrible performance on those that have the equipment to use it. I'd say if you have an upper-end DX9 card go for it. This game doesn't even support any DX10 perks, so what's the point?

the Orange Box is far far more popular on the PC than on the 360....how good is it COD2 community on the 360? cause its huge on the PC....

Play RO and get some kind of a context for your statements.
I'm not going to play Rifles only because CoD2 has horrible shooting mechanics, most of all for bolt-action rifles. I'm really not interested so much in ruining my gameplay experience to eliminate the only valid reason to play the game, automatic rifles.

I'm sorry, when I play CoD2 on PC, it's always a nonsense server with some retarded mod not worth playing that the server decides to force on you without advertising what it is in the server name. Don't know what I'm talking about? I swear, if I step into another CoD2 server with deployable machineguns, I'm going to jump off a bridge.
As far as high player count servers, it's only worth a crap on games like RO. No map on CoD2 is even meant to support 32 players, much less 64. Again, PLAY RO. A bunch of morons running around with tommyguns is not my way to game.
Anyway, true that PC version supports more players on CoD4.

Thats what filters are for. You can select an option for stock servers. 0_oWith the majority of people going for HL2 Orange Box on 360

Lol, what?
Orange Box on PC is trashing the 360 version according to the NPD.
And the NPD is where the PC typically performs weakily, as it doesn't include digital distribution sales or global sales.

That's good. I would've bought it via Steam if I could have but I missed the discount period.
My frame of reference is that of Gamespot....360 vers typically runs out of stock faster than the PC version. You're right about digital distro though. Steam was where it was born.
It's also worth noting that the people I work with keep advertising the fugging 360 version if at all.

You could probably easily run this game with great performance on an upper end DX9 card, such as 7800 GTX, 1950 XTX, etc.

RO w/ bolt action no scope only is about half of the servers i played, it's really really fast gameplay requires really fast reflexes and a lot of luck to win, otherwise the regular servers were lame because any retard can pick up a ppsh and blow people away and the gameplay slows down to people camping at doorways nading eachother while noobs lose the flag or whatnot... at least with rifles only it required some skill and it's much more difficult to camp (because the camper only gets one shot otherwise you're dead meat or maybe lucky if you survive) so action became more fluid

i thought RO bolt action no scope only was pretty fun myself, requires more skill than just running around with a shotgun or ppsh mowing people down and made maps more fluid because you only had one shot = one kill unless you're lucky or the other guy is a bad shot, also you're right about some bad servers, but cod2 ain't no half life 2, you have to find good servers
*EDIT: ah, never touched red orchestra

I agree with you. 64 man servers in COD was a cruel joke. The game is meant for 16 - 32players depending on the map. I didn't like the PC multiplayer at all.

Stop spouting crap out of your mouth please......trash mods? Just about every server has their own mods/maps which will never see the light of day on the console versions. While the console versions are capped at 16 players per server, the PC version has no limit. There are even a few 64 player servers with large maps. 16 players in a war game is pathetic, I'm sorry. This is why the BF series has always been garbage on consoles. Also, the game runs extremely well, even on old systems. Runs like a turd? Do you have a PC from 1992 perhaps?

So 4v4 MP for CoD2 was better? Are you kidding me? The PC version's MP was in every way superior to that of the 360's.
Go with the pc version if your system can handle to run it well.
It will easily be best on a good pc.

I don't know if PS3 can outperform a 7800GT, but 360 definatley can. PS3 probably can too.
There is no team work in the PC version. It's just run n gun and grenade spamming. I played both versions of COD2 and I enjoyed the 360 version more due to the teamwork. It's impossible to work with a team with 31 other players and no one wants to use a mic. COD1 and 2 were both horrible online imo. Same old run n gun gameplay. Hopefully they can do better with 4.Deihmos
Uhhh, it's war, what do you expect? Oh right, keep playing so called "tactical" games with 4v4.
