overall, which one you enjoyed (see yourself will enjoy) the most?Mystery_Writer
I enjoyed Halo 3 because it was much more of a challenge than Call of Duty 4, where you just kill someone in one hit all the time.
Then again, I was playing the PC version. I found it exceedingly easy.
Halo 3 is my choice. I can go back to Halo 3 so many times while I see COD4 as a game that wont last long. Im tired of Matyrdom and Fragx3.
Halo 3 does have flaws but I expect an update to fix some problems and I am waiting for the new maps to be free . No way I will pay $10 for 3 maps!!!
Halo and COD gameplay is too different. Its really up to your personal preference. I like realistic guns and short, faced paced gameplay. So COD4 for me...
Halo is slow paced, Sci-Fi themed, open environmentsand requires a little more strategy, or "luck" to kill.

Rofl Halo is NOT challenging. COD4 is more challengin since you die much quicker.Such lack of reason.
First, you (the thread poster) ask two entirely different questions. Which is the better game and which game do you enjoy more. This is simply unacceptable, since one does not imply the other. I won't even bother pointing out that we are still in the COD honeymoon period so critical judgement is more unlikely.
Secondly, fast gameplay does not necessarilyequate to skillfull gameplay. Take chess for instance. Nor does dying quickly automatically raise the standard of play.
Thirdly, what on earth does 'better' mean. By one persons criteriaapolished, but unremarkable remake of an aging franchis may be the ultimate game, whereas another person my prefer innovation at the expense of everything else.
If you are attempting to identify some general measure of greatness then you must use much more general language to counteract individual perspective. For instance you could ask which game will be most highly regarded in 10 years time or which game has the largest fanbase. Both these questions ask each person to make the same judgement, albeit from their personal perspective. This is flawed, but infinitely better than asking for a personal view of a personal agenda.
I love both of those games and pretty much just go back and fourth with them.I honestly cant say which one i enjoy more.I guess it really comes down to the gameplay.some people might prefer the more realistic military gameplay of cod4 and some might like the sci fi fast paced action of halo 3.loudharleylol wut?

Well firstly, you just did.
Secondly, its a simple question, which one did you enjoy more, theres no need to complicate things. Hes obviously after opinions not facts. Which will be more highly regarded in 10 yrs? how are forum goers suposed to answer that? Which has the larger fanbase? thats fairly obvious.

I still say its not challenging at all. lol You guys play a slow FPS with auto aim and you think its hard?Play Halo CE on PC, when you fire your first sniper rifle shot and it doesn't magnet to your opponent, you'll know what I mean..

I did play it and Halo:CE is my favorite of the Halo series. Yes the auto aim is weaker in Halo CE but Halo 3 is in between both CE and 2. Its really good, in fact I suck at sniping in Halo 3. I go right passed that gun all the time. Play some Halo 3 and try shooting your own teamate till he dies you will notice what Halo 3 would be like with out auto aim.
Also what does speed have to do with anything? Im not playing a racing game(other than having fun with Rocket Race). I remember the first unreal tournament for the xbox was so fast paced that it would get you dizzy as people jump by your screen.

I suppose that is my point really. It isn't a simple question. It just looks like a simple questions. When you ask 'which is better?' you are really mostly asking 'which do you like more?' with a large pinch of 'which game do you prefer to be seen as a champion of?'. I have no problem with either of these questions, but they could be asked more directly.

lol :P, calm down dude. You need to learn putting things in perspective based on context.
There is a thread title length limitation. Hence titles tend to generalize (e.g. "COD4 vs. Halo3") to give general ideas of what the thread is about (and also entice people to get in and read the thread).
However, if your problem is your comprehension skills are below what makes you capable of understanding the question "which one you enjoyed the most?" then I don't think anyone can help you here.
P.S. lol :P sry, i can't help but imagining you responding to a child with one of those "where do babies come from?" questions. You probably would scar the poor little fella for life. lol

Rofl Halo is NOT challenging. COD4 is more challengin since you die much quicker. There is challenge in Halo 3. The difference between Halo 3 and COD4 is that the challenge in Halo 3 is not staying alive, but using your spawns wisely and getting as many kills as you can before you are inevitably overwhelmed at some point. There would be no point in trying really hard to stay alive, if there wasn't a respawn timer, and the advantage of gathering weapons on the map. So you have to be smart who you attack, what weapons you pick up, and what you do in what situation. If you died you wouldn't get to keep your gun advantage against other spawning players. So there is incentive as well as challenge to stay alive. The skill in COD4 is basically a little bit of aiming, quick reflexes and finding a good place to camp where you are at an advantage against many other players. There is skill in many weapons but a lot of it is negated by the fact that you really only need better reaction time, or a greater opportunity than the other person to shoot, to "win" the kill. I'ts addictive, but the game isn't as balanced as it should be. In Halo 3, while it does have some small issues, you can't camp. So you are pretty much forced to rely on strategy, and teamwork instead of who had the quicker reaction time. So, wait which requires more skill again?

exactly right.Well you can camp in Halo 3 but not nearly as much. And Halo 3 makes it fun to go out and start shooting someone. In real life you don't go killing people by rushing themwith anassault rifle and and being the first to melee them.

No...you just sneak behind someone and kill them. Atleast melee doesn't kill in one go so the other person, like in real life, still has a chance to fight back. So? In Halo 3 you one hit kill with just the butt of your rifle from behind opponents. When you're facing someone who's facing youit takes skill.

COD4 isnt exactly supposed to be realistic FPS.
Want realism go play ArmA, Operation Flashpoint, Ravenshield, SWAT4 or Red Orchestra.

Of course I am overreacting. This is system wars, after all.
I appreciate that it is childish to pick holes in grammar when you know perfectly well what someone is trying to say but in thiscase Idecided to make the point that the TC doesn't seem to know what question s/he is asking. The threadtitledoes not match the content, which inevitably results in an directionless thread as people spin off in their own direction.
I know it doesn't matter (and I rarely react to it), but it just emphasises the point that forum posting has much more to do with projecting your own opinions and less to do with hearing (and learing from)others.
well they are completely different games, COD4 is the best tactical shooter out at the moment, but halo 3 is not the best shooter out. GOW and halo 2 beats it.
so COD4 wins.
Callof Duty 4
The Good
Great gameplay (It's one of the most refined FPS's out there), Cool single player missions (it has very interesting concepts and levels), cool single player achievements, an epic ending, rewarding and competitive online play, Kill Cam, great graphics, excellent customization
The Bad
No Co-op at all, no online split screen, offline split screen multiplayer is lacking what makes the customization that makes online multiplayer so great, online multiplayer is matchmaking only (No custom games), no multiplayer achievements, only nine maps.
Halo 3
The Good
Great gameplay, fun single player, great multiplayer (for both casual players and competitive) Skulls, co-op, split screen (both on and offline), forge, saved film, custom games, File Share, downloadable content, KATANA!!!!(I love my katana).
The Bad
Could have better maps, saved film has some flaws, achievements are kind of bland, downloadable content costs money ATM.
I own both, but I personally prefer Halo 3. COD4 is amazing, I love it, but I just like Halo 3 better. Plus Halo 3 is much better for split screen multiplayer, COD4's is kinda lacking in that respect.

lol :P sry, but it's really entertaining reading your responses. Here, let me leave you with this to ponder upon (warning: wall of text).
Check out the thread title, and see how you could work your way to link it to the post. (you'll find the exit strategy if someone questioned the disconnection)
Then examine the "enticing people to get in" concept I briefly touched upon earlier, and you'll probably get to understand how this thread is put together.
Also, since I really liked you (platonic way :P ) I'll let you in a little thread titles writing tips:
To let people think you're a pro subject A and against subject B in a "A vs. B" thread, type your thread title like this "A or B: which one is better?"
And to let them think you're a pro subject B and against subject A, type it like this "B or A: which one is better?"
So if you're in an environment where you'd expect people to reject your preference (like say your preference is Halo 3 but you know COD4 is still in its honeymoon when you're posting your "vs." thread) put your preference the second one.
Also, to let people give more sincere thought to their answers, use "or" instead of "vs."
There are many psychological writing tips that I could let you know, but I'll finish with this psycho analysis;
Your stance is a pro Halo 3 in this thread. And my placement of Halo 3 as second in the thread title subconsciously triggered your hostility towards the thread / thread writer as a whole.
You could've let it go (as you put it; rarely you respond to disconnected threads titles / thread posts like these). But there was too much at stake here that even you (with all your self-proclaimed self-restraints personality) couldn't help but post.
You can clearly see "which one is better?" intention and how the TC is trying to indirectly making it look like people are choosing which one is better by masking their answers under "which one you enjoyed the most?" question.
Add to that the odds are against your favorite game (COD4 is the one in the honeymoon), you went in this thread determined to write something but unable to target anything except the thread title / post connection (since there was no clear TC preference to attack, and it's just your gut feeling that TC was pro COD4)
Disclaimer: now that you reached the end, I have to tell you I was kidding about the above. And was just messing around with you ;) (now try psycho analyzing the disclaimer)
Better game overall: Halo 3 simply because of all the innovative console features (saved films, forge, etc)
Better multiplayer: COD4 hands down. Ive played Halo 2 for 4 years straight, and H3 is the same old thing...
Better single player: I enjoyed COD4's a lot more but its too short to place it over Halo 3's (which includes online co-op, campaign scoring, skulls, and terminals)
