Well that didn't take very long.

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/driveclub-devs-join-codemasters-following-studio-c/1100-6438702/

Glad to see they will still be working as a team since Sony let them go. I still haven't played Driveclub but enjoyed the Motorstorm games.

It's good to see these guys get some work, and good on Codemasters for employing them.

If only other devs got jobs instead of being used as a PR stunt.

This is awesome news. The entire studio being able to stay together is pretty much a miracle.

You have some proof that Sony didn't hire any laid off Lionhead employees?

I am pretty sure i saw an article saying that it didnt happen.

But let's say that he doesn't have any evidence and that they did, in fact hire some former lionhead employees.

Would you see it as a good thing that they closed their own studio and hired MS employees instead? why couldn't they find alternative jobs for their own employees first?

Why didn't Microsoft find alternative jobs for the laid off Lionhead employees and other studios that they shuttered recently? It's a business and they want the best of the best. It's not a charity.

but MS aren't offering Sony employees jobs at the same time as closing their own studios, big difference there.

Try again and answer my question.

what you seem to be saying there is that the Lionhead employees are better than those of evolution.

Evolution is was acquired and not a single employee was laid off. We don't how long this deal has been in the works. They could have been approached shortly after Sony shut them down. Why leave a studio you like working at under this unusual situation?

Great news ! Apparantly they are working on a new IP too.

Hopefully it's something like Motorstorm. I think Codemasters can use a more casual and action orientated series besides their more serious Grid and Dirt.

Well it was big news when Sony offered Lionhead staff a chance to come to a job conference, and I'm sure Sony would have put out a press release stating they have hired some/all of Lionhead's staff.

Why would Sony go out of it's way to help a dev team that has nothing to do with them, yet cut one of it's own studios?

It sounded like Sony was planning to relocate most of them, so I don't know that they wouldn't have jobs for them. I would imagine they found the Codemasters deal more appealing.

Microsoft moved the Lionhead employees within jobs in the Xbox division.

I can't wait when they release the game and all the cows on the board will say it no longer has good graphics since devs lose all talent after cutting ties with Sony.

@R4gn4r0k: Yes I'd love to see something akin to Motorstorm. Would be nice way to bounce back from Drive club. Maybe call it Motorblaze, Motorbash, etc......

Just give me intense races with crazy destruction,

meh, part of me thinks that's cool, like they can make another Motorstorm or a spiritual successor to it, then another part of me realizes both studios aren't their former caliber, not Codemasters and not Evolution

Agreed. I think people forgot that DriveFlub scored bad at the beginning when it was released....but after the endless content and fixes they added, the score would have been easily 10 points higher. One of the best arcade racers this gen.

LOL the back and forth in here of trolling each other it just hilarious LOL. Good that they were acquired though, haven't been a racing game fan in years but I'm sure with the new hires they should be making some very good racing games in here.

I did find it difficult at times, which is why I am only in the lower 20's still for my level. But the game is sick now. I have added a lot of the DLC. Feel free to add me on PSN if you want to get some casual racing in. I need more peeps to race with. PSN tag is Kvally.

You want to see Evolution at their best, check out some WRC 4 on the PS2, it killed the Mcrea series.

Because codemasters failed at something, Evolution shouldn't get a try at it ?

I don't see the logic in that statement, I'm sorry.

Also Dirt is the continuation of the Mcrea series, just as Grid is the continuation of the Race Driver series. Neither series is dead.

@R4gn4r0k:Sorry, guess i didn't say it right.

What i mean is, Codemasters have found the sweet spot with Dirt and Grid that no one else can do. They are already casual to the racing genre.

What i meant with WRC4 was, how Evolution can make the tracks feel more alive with the car existing on it.

Dirt Showdown was a game for babies, Mario Kart level entry, so i think it's better they do something that rivals Dirt, or even surpass it.

Say what you will about Driveclub, but those tracks are amazing.

Not going to mention Motorstorm, cause it's pure awsome.

@Ant_17: Oh yeah, I misread both sentences, my mistake :p

I looooooooved Motorstorm. It's one of my favourite new IP and series on the PS3. Haven't played Driveclub yet, I'm more a casual racing fan. I usually play against AI. Would you recommend Driveclub for that ?

Motorstorm RC is also one of my favourite games on Vita.

Now that Evolution is with Codemasters, and have confirmed to work on a new IP, would you like it to be something like Driveclub or something like Motorstorm or ... ?

@R4gn4r0k:Driveclub for casual and AI? Yes, you should try it.

Haven't tried RC, cause i'm not a fan of spectator cam.

As for the new Evolution game? It has to be down and dirty, so a Motorstorm style game. But whatever it is, it will stand out from most racers out now.

@Ant_17: True, most racers this gen all seem somewhat the same. To have something like Motorstorm again would be great !

Probably why I enjoyed Mario Kart 8 this gen most of all, it's just so over the top and fun !

When I first played RC I also disliked the camera. But it's just so great to have miniature versions of all these different vehicles from the Motorstorm series.

@R4gn4r0k:Rc is fun for it's fun factor, it's just my heart broke when it wasn't a proper Motorstorm on the Vita.

The reason i still have my PSP is for Acrtic Edge, but that's BigBig, which they are dead as well.

Motorstorm was something that just blew me away when it first came out on PS3. I know that we will get something similar, if there is a demand for it.
