[QUOTE="Second_Hokage"]companies like those who offer free online and better first party games will succeed.RR360DDYet the PS3 is last  +1 teh ps3 sucks.
TC makes a point to a dergree but fanboys will never understand. Think about it for a sec. How much does ms make Off the sales of cod, battlefield, or even gears? Keep in mind I talking about sales for set game and not what moved consoles. Ms doesn't own these games and even if they have exculsive right like gears ms still isn't footing the bill to develop the whole game. So how much in return do they get then? Hmmmmm! Sony and Nintendo on the other hand own many developers and sign there paycheck also, so there return is much greater then a company relying on third party. Is it a gamble to do something like this? Yes but at the end of the day there defining themselves as a gaming console and not a multimedia Kinect shovelware console. What defines ms? Halo, forza, fable, gears (third party), and Kinect. What defines Sony? Uncharted, god of war, GT,and LBP but theres still your other games in which many could over look but still make money such as wipeout, hot shot golf, resistance, ratchet and clank, motorstorm, plus the future games like last of us, battle royal, beyond ( keep in mind this was my first THIRD party game I mention :p). And we all know what difines Nintendo so I won't bother. All in all ms need to make games that make us say wow that a MS game and right now all they have is halo. FFKi11er
They make money through royalties. And alot of money. Cause they get the money upfront. Say a company orders a million copies of an xbox 3rd party game. Right then and there they pay royalties for a millions copies regardless of if they only sell 500k copies. It's why publishers complain about used games so much.
And if a game costs say $60, $12 of that goes to MS/Sony/Nin. Trust me 3rd party is the way to go if you're one of the big 3. You get a reward for doing nothing.
I would be willing to bet Sony makes more money off of COD than they do Killzone and resistence combined.

So explain to me why nintendo servied when little third party for majority of n64/ GameCube years? Why is it sony put so much effort to making there first party to what it is now. How many game of the year exclusives does the 360 have or even award winning studios. O that's right I wasn't just talking about money was I. Difine ms besides halo. Also halo is nothing but a cash cow for ms now. Wonder why ms won't develop or even sign on a new ip. O that's right they don't have the talent to define themselves as a gaming console.[QUOTE="FPSfan1985"][QUOTE="FFKi11er"]TC makes a point to a dergree but fanboys will never understand. First, because N64 and GC had alot of really well selling first party titles. Second, because Sony is clue less, this entire generation has been a practice in Sony shooting itself in the foot. Third MS clearly understands that it's more profitable to rely on one or two big hitting exclusives a year along side solid 3rd party support. It's the reason MS makes money and Sony loses it. Spending 50-100 million on a first party game that only moves 1 or 2 million units is a huge waste of money. Sony would be in a much better place right now monitarily if they wouldn't have released so many first party games. Might not e the answer you're looking for as a gamer, but it's the sad truth. As soon as I saw the thread title I knew this was about Microsoft.
Microsoft is making more money than Sony and is moving more hardware and software.
But yeah, they're gonna fail. That makes perfect sense.
its almost as bad as claiming that because the end of generation drought that all consoles see means next generation no games will be released on the 360....As soon as I saw the thread title I knew this was about Microsoft.

Those companies have no future, all they do is rely on that one game every year to keep their fans on their console and continue paying for playing it online. Those companies will struggle because they also have like 1 or 2 good first party games, that are not even that great. Those companies also take advantage of their fans by placing Ads all over their home screen. Those companies that refuse to upgrade their disc space will also fail because games are becoming bigger and better and they force you to interchange discs, interruptiong your enjoyment. This is why companies like those who offer free online and better first party games will succeed.Second_Hokage
Yet, with arguably the weakest 1st party support, MS is doing rather well this gen.

You're wrong. If the Xbox were moving more hardware than Sony then the 8 million gap wouldn't be on 2 right now. And the Xbox only sells more software on the US while the PS3 sells the most everyhwere else.

PS3 still has less sales and less good games then 360. Get over it, PS3 lost this gen.[QUOTE="Second_Hokage"]companies like those who offer free online and better first party games will succeed.RR360DDYet the PS3 is last  I thought he was a sheep? anyway, too many people have opinions that change depending on what's in their best interest.

"Is moving"
Implying the present, in which Microsoft is still moving more software and hardware than the PS3.
