Tetris agrees.foxhound_foxAs does Geometry Wars, Luimens, Loco Roco, New Super Mario Bros, Elite Beat Agents, Warioware, etc. etc. etc.
Don't you mean complexity? Anyway, I agree though. Games just have to be fun. DrinkDuffhow easily people can forget this basic truth.
Complexity makes a game better if that contributes to depth, in VF it does.Runningflame570Depth doesn't make a game better, either.

Complexity makes a game better if that contributes to depth, in VF it does.Runningflame570I agree. Complexity that adds to depth makes a game much more fun, for certain types of people. Good examples are Morrowind and Eve Online. For some, it's the depth and complexity of the game that attracts the consumer in the first place.
It's all about balancing it. If a game is too simple you can get bored with it, if it's too complex it's not fun anymore. Also, you can have a game that's very simple in setup and all (halo for example), but if you perfect it, it'll stay fun forever, and it will get depth by using the simple setup in creative ways.
... or something.

No one can define exactly what depth is, for one thing. It's one of those nebulous words that people use when something goes over their head. It's meaningless.

Actually yes, depth does...even a mediocre game can be good with enough depth to the gameplay. If you are in favor of simple jollies then you may not agree but for those of us who enjoy some gameplay depth complexity most certainly can make a game better, even if it doesn't always do so.
