I have preloaded it onto my pc, can't wait for it to unlock. I love Splinter Cell.
you won't be disappointed. the new voice over guy is good, the graphics are great. i have done the first mission (very easy) and then one of the side missions for Anna Grimssdotir, that mission is pure splinter cell. You are given a lethal / non-lethal route, multiple paths etc so far. Â If the SP game continues like this, it reckon it will be the best Splinter Cell yet.Â
Sounds amazing. Is the purist difficulty (or whatever it's called where it disables mark execute etc.) unlocked from the start?

yes, you can choose whichever difficulty setting right away.I am playing on normal for the first run through. I reckon that the perfectionist difficulty will be better saved for a later run through as it disables a bunch of stuff. it does not seem like this will be an easy game.
and if you want achievements etc, multiple play throughs will be required. I am trying to do a none-lethal playthrough and the Mark and execute option, thankfully also applies to your stun gun (i've used that ability twice in about 2 hours).
the mission i did for Anna, (a side mission) in a fort of the coast of england, was the old style "get detected and you are out" thing. i had to re-try it quite a few times. it felt very much like chaos theory.
so far i am over the moon with the game.
Â
Ah sweet, thanks for the info. I may try and get the achievements. I'm glad there are side missions too, will bring a lot of longevity. Have you tried the Co-op at all? Are the co-op missions the same as the side missions? What platform are you playing it on? 360?

I am on the 360. I have not tried the co-op yet. the side missions for anna, can be played solo or co-op (in the level i played, additional routes would have been available if i were playing with a friend). i think one of guys on the plane offering you side missions have to be done with a partner. I like playing SC on my own TBH, but will do the co-op on this game. and spies vs mercs was great and is back so will get into that too. It's one of those games where after half an hour you realise "there is going to be a lot of stuff to get through here"Â
Awesome, all sounds good. I have to wait til tomorrow for it to unlock, I cannot wait that long!
[QUOTE="mariokart97"]like i said above, i am only a couple of hours in. but i got a feeling that it will be the best splinter cell yet. the opening was exciting and I cannot wait to continue playing tonight. So far, it appears to be able to keep lovers of all play-styles happy. it's without doubt the best looking splinter cell btw.Whoa whoa whoa. Is this new Splinter Cell weve been waiting for?
sts106mat
This is really good to hear because I've played Splinter Cell games on the gamecube and they just didn't hook me, although it wasn't horrible. It sounds like you're having a great experience as well.
my thoughts exactly! Ill have to watch this after class.Wait, Conan was new tonight?
But he had repeats on MOnday and Tuesday!

So I must say that I haven't really been a big fan of Splinter Cell since the original trilogy now two generations ago. It just stopped appealing to me. But Since Blacklist was coming out on the Wii U I figured I'd give it a shot since of course the Gamepad provides a new and unique experience for a game like this. And I must say overall I've really enjoyed the game. I admit it's not quite great but, as far as the regular old game itself (which is the same on the other two systems) it's got some pretty cool and engaging elements. I love the upgrading and the points system based on what style of attack you are using (Ghost, Panther, etc.). But for the Wii U version and it's exclusive features and content it's actually really cool. Being able to bypass the game-haulting inventory wheel in real time is super useful. And the sticky cam and sniping on the Gamepad is freaking awesome. Plus it streams U-Play server data such as daily mission info and stat tracking right to the gamepad that you can access freely at anytime as well. So I'm glad that the Wii U gave me a reason to return to a franchise I would have otherwise passed up completely. Overall, solid game.
[QUOTE="ReadingRainbow4"]totally disagree, i was genuinely huge ironside fan. but having spent a few hours with the game, it's been so good i've hardly noticed they changed it.Man, I still can't get over how bad Sam's new voice is.
Way to kill a character Ubi.

I hate it entirely, he sounds like he's in his 30's. I miss old gruffled sam fisher.

While I admit that Michael Ironside's voice was iconic as Sam Fisher, I still think the new actor does a pretty good job. Not to metion that you think that that's the thing that "kills" Sam Fisher? Seems a little extreme man.
The thing that I do think is kind of funny about the new Fisher is how much he looks like Matthew Fox (aka, Jack) from Lost. ;)

His voice was a major part of his character, this Sam just feels generic.

Yeah, I certainly can't disagree with you there. I had the same trepidation but having been playing it for two days I've realized it hasn't made much of a difference for me. The game is still pretty good. You should give it a shot.

Yeah, he's pretty bad. I've been playing the game for a bit now, and the new Sam Fisher is pretty terrible. He shows very little emotion when he is talking to others. The worst is when he is talking to his daughter over the phone, it's lifeless and feels out of place. His lines have no impact whatsoever, he's just boring. Â I think they should have made a new character, because this isn't the Sam Fisher that I know and love.
However, I do think the game is incredible. The rest of the voice cast does an awesome job despite the lackluster performance of Sam.Â

I really hope the same thing doesn't happen with MGS. They do have a pretty great actor covering Snakes voice now so I think we'll be fine but it still scares me.

Don't agree at all. The only emotion Sam ever had was anger. He did have more dry sarcasm but I attribute that to ironside being a stronger actor. The new one is by no means terrible. Please Log In to post.
