MICROSOFT HAS admitted that all the 11.6 million faulty Xbox 360s sold in the last 19 months are faulty.

In a statement, Volish spinsters said that all of the consoles suffer from a design flaw which could cause the machine to fail.

However, the outfit said that while it is extending the warranty coverage from one to three years to compensate consumers, it had no plans to recall or exchange the boxes.

All consoles have a flaw in that if I take a hammer and beat them, they'll stop working. If I look after my 360, I'll have no problems with it.

No offense, but dont trust the inquirer. I remember that during the PS3 euro launch they wrote that the sixaxis wont have motion sensing.

I'm inclined to believe. You don't get 30%+ console breakdown without some inherent flaw in the design. Tis' true.

Software giant admits there are 11.6 million faulty consoles, which it will have to fix.

Microsoft has admitted that every one of the 11.6 million Xbox 360 consoles sold in the past 19 months suffers from a design flaw that could cause the device to fail.

The firm will extend the warranty coverage from one to three years to compensate consumers, but does not plan to instate a recall or exchange programme.

Microsoft gaming chief Robbie Bach claimed in a conference call with financial analysts that the design issues surfaced recently.

"In the past couple of months we started to see significant increases in repair requests and call requests and

significant attention from people," he said.

Microsoft did not disclose the exact nature of the problems, but said that it had made the necessary design changes and that units currently in stock will be upgraded.

The extended warranty period is limited to hardware failures indicated by three flashing red lights on the console. Users of consoles suffering from such problems are entitled to free repairs and shipping.

Microsoft estimated that the repairs will cost the company US$1.05bn to US$1.15bn, spilt evenly between the higher than expected return rates for existing consoles under the one-year warranty, and future returns under the extended warranty period.

There IS A DESIGN FLAW with the 360. The GPU cooling just doesn't hold up. The graphics chip gets too hot and it warps the motherboard. The solder that holds the GPU heatsink in place cracks and you then get the dreaded red ring of death.

This fault can happen to all the 360's made to date not just the launch systems. The Elite has the potential fail too. The failure rate on the 360 is now very high indeed. In the UK MS are recieving 2,500 systems a day!

My 360 has developed a fault with the DVD drive and its now somewhere in the Czech Republic. Before that my other 360 suffered the ring of death.

It doesn't matter how well you look after it, your 360 will probably fail at some point. MS are now fitting a new designed heatsink which should prevent this problem, only time will tell.

Same here, i don't think we have anything to worry about, our 360s will have got to a hot temperature lots of times so if it had a problem something should have happened by now.
