[QUOTE="IronBass"]I dunno, the Diablo formula feels kinda outdated nowadays. I hope Blizzard takes a couple of notes from Bethesda and BioWare, considering how much they both have improved the action RPG genre this generation, making perfect hybrids of action-based gameplay and RPG elements.Ravenchrome
 Many would disagree with this statement completely...
Well, he's actually right (ironbass) that in someways, Diablo formula feels outdated. Like the simple click, click, click. (Diablo 3 will require a far greater degree of tactical positioning, so it tries to improve the combat there). There's the problem with the health system, Diablo 3 is changing that up too.
The skill system, completely reworked.
Of course, lets not forget the inclusion of destructible environment.
Yes because games like Oblivion and Mass Effect are bastions of stat based rpg mechanics.. Oh thats right, both games threw both things pretty much out of the window.. And I like how you use "simple" in it, when Oblivion and Mass Effect 2 both were dumbed down in multiple ways in mechanic for simplicity rather then rectifying any problems.. There are ways of improving the system, games like Oblivion didn't what so ever.. They have in fact devolved with less options or startegy compared to past games.. Not good comparisons WHAT so ever.. Furthermore Diablo is not a action rpg.. Its a hack n slash rpg.. It was based upon this premise of dungeon crawling.. And these mechanics have made people play these type of games far longer than anything provided by Oblivion, mass effect etc etc.. They are not the same games, top comparing them..
