To whomever said that Wii 3rd party games don't sell well: you are sadly mistaken. Check out Nintendo's latest report from Iwata. For much of this 7th generation, 3rd party Nintendo games have outsold total 3rd party games sold on PS3 and Xbox 360 on a month-to-month basis. This Christmas season, Wii 3rd party games sold were slightly behind PS3 and Xbox 360 games sold-- but if MW2 was factored out then Wii 3rd party games outsold PS3 and Xbox 360 games by a large margin.
Wii has had a few well-announced flops, but most of those games didn't turn out to be flops in the long-run as many Wii games tend to have long legs. Dead Space Extraction was wildly heralded as a major bust as it only sold 10K in the 1st week, but it has now gone on to sell over 200K in a few months. Madworld has also sold well after an initial slow period. The Resident Evil Spin-offs also fit this category.
Quite frankly, there are very few good 1st person shooters that are even on the Wii. Most of the shooters so far are rail-shooters, which has been a much over-produced genre on the Wii. I love House of the Dead Overkill, and that game sold well, but there are too many other rail-shooters. I am not holding too much hope for Sin and Punishment 2, which comes out soon.
All of the major FPS games on the Wii have sold pretty well. CoD WaW sold well over a million units. CoD MW reflex edition is selling very solidly despite being a 2 years old port and having terrible reviews. The Conduit is the only other major 3rd party FPS on the Wii that I know of, and it sold decently but not spectacularly. The Conduit was a buggy game with a lot of flaws, but it still had its charm.
To date, no compnay has really taken a chance on making a good big-budget FPS on the Wii. I think Ghost Recon could do quite well, actually-- there aren't any tactical FPS games like this on the Wii. Lets just hope that Ubisoft doesn't give the Wii a gimped copy that is vastly inferior to the HD consoldes release.
I think that if MW2 had been released on the Wii it would have sold 1,5-2 million copies easily, but for some reason Activision didn't want to release MW2 for the Wii this year.
