Congratulations PS4 on reaching the 100 million club! Fastest home console ever to reach this figure in 5 years 7 month! Deserved the feat after a masterful display destroying the xbox brand led by Phil Spencer who didnt do anything since taking over the brand. 5 years of not a thing done.

For a console with 100 million sales, it didn't seem to really destroy Xbox, definitely not compared to PS2.

Considering what we saw happen to Wii U, its far from a slaughter. And compared to what we saw with Vita, doesn't even like it got demolished.

I'd say, Sony beat Xbox, and like Nintendo, Xbox is formulating its own plan to counter, to play the game their way, not Sony's way.

Congratulations well deserves to Sony. I was a late adopter to the system but enjoyed every minute of it. The UI is simple and easy to navigate the library of games is exceptional across all genres.

i contributed 3 sales to that 100million. congrats well deserved.

PS4 will beat the Wii and PS1 by 2020 and become the second best selling console of all time behind the PS2.

Over a billion software. Projected 15 million sales upcoming year. At the end of year fiscal, it will be 3rd best hardware behind PS2 and Nintendo DS and 2nd in software to PS2. It'll be interesting to see how it holds out first few years into next-gen arrival.

Whenever I see the Verge, it gives me nightmares how they show you how to build a PC. No PC gamer wants to remember those guys lol.

And PS4 launched three months later in Japan. That's not really a factor. Tiered launches are still kind of the norm.

Comparing the PS4 sales to the PS2 is silly. We have more gamers than every before (1.83billion give or take) and the revenue in 2000 was 6.6 billion compared to 43 billion last year.

@BenjaminBanklin: 3 months of Japanese sales is not equal to 6 months of Europe and NA sales(both of which are roughly double the Japanese market for consoles) and essentially gives the ps4 an extra holiday season when comparing the two. As I said it's still an accomplishment but a bit misleading.

Congrats to Sony on those PS4 numbers. They definitely had a great gen.

@npiet1: playstation tends to have very long lifecycle. PS1, PS2 & PS3 reach 10 years due to Sony support and system popularity. Heck Vita recently got an update.

So does Nintendo, Wii just had a game come out "Just dance". Plus the PS5 is BC so a lot of people will flood the market when they upgrade.

Only had a few games that I cared about (Ratchet and Clank, Dragon Quest Builders, Final Fantasy 12).

One remake and a few games on other systems. Worst Ps system by far for me. (still better than X-Box)

the wii got to 95 million much faster than the ps4.

wii launched in dec 2006 and got to 95million in dec 2011. it got to 95M faster than ps4.

however it took wii "3 years" to sell 5M more units to reach 100M. INSANE ....thats because nintendo cut off support for wii in 2011 and wii died.

but the fastest console to reach 95M was the Wii
