Congratulations to The Last of Us Part 2 winning the VGA critics Game of The Year awards and total of 7 awards tonight. Very well deserved and one of my top games of the year alongside Ghost of Tsushima and Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Excluding Demon's Souls, a game from 09, TLOU2 is my goty as well. In my top 3 Sony exclusives of last gen too (with bloodborne and GoW).

"Games for Impact" sounds like the worst category ever.

That is cool. This game got a lot of hate and flak in the news. I for one really enjoyed it even with the buff chick that could whoop my ass and all, lolz. But seriously, I felt it was a good continuation of the story. I for one really like the TLOU universe. I found myself doing two complete playthroughs back to back and Plat'ed the game.

The original TLOU is the one that made me dust off my fat PS3 after sitting unused for a couple years. It was all about the 360 for me console wise back then. Surprisingly it ended up being my favorite game of that entire gen.

GOOD! I haven't started playing TLOU2 yet, but I do have it in my library. If a remake like demon souls won, or ff7, they would have lost all credibility.

It's on my list... loved the first, but if there was ever a year where I wasn't in the mood for an even darker sequel this would be it. Maybe in a year or two I'll get to it after some better escapism

The fact that Doom Eternal didnot even win best action and best music is all money talks.

My freind. Actual better than Last Of Us 2 games like Streets Of Rage 4 and Desperados 3 where not even in existence.

I think more people would agree that the game that is sitting at 26 million as of September 30 is way better than a game that sold 4 million in the first week, only to make a steep decline of 80% the following week. But whatever.

Hades is legit, but was kinda weird seeing it take the action category. Eternal, SOR4, and Nioh 2 have better action, free.

Still, at least it's a good game.

Would make more sense if they had more proper genre categories, have Hades take it for roguelikes.

Sucks that a show meant to celebrate gaming misses such obvious categories while having throwaway categories.

Im working on it now. And from what I played(which im half way or almost done), I find it just ok.

Too much walking/talking, needs more action Segments. And some variety would be nice.

And that too. Desperados 3 according to journalist doesnot even exist. even most of my real life friends who game on PS4 I recommned them desperados 3 and they didnot even know if a game like this exist or not. its all corrupt mainstream media fault.

GOTY awards are always been popularity contest. nothing else but this time it was even more so that last of us 2 even win best sport game of the year.

Most people also would agree most of the players is mostly non gamer and kids buying because of the pandemic.

Xbox Nintendo and PC gamers need a ps4 or ps5 to play this GOTY game that is fact that is the end of the story you can't survive an xbox a pc or switch you need the playstation eco system to get goty game thats how it rolls down the mountain. Get used to it.

It kind of sucks that Doom Eternal didn't win any awards. The game has a killer soundtrack and amazing gameplay to me. It is my favorite game of 2020. Half-Life: Alyx winning the best VR award was a no brainer since it was the best VR game. The Last of Us 2 getting so many awards was a surprise to me since so many people hated it.

My friend, I did not watch much of the show, but somehow I doubt this.

Doom Eternal with ancient Gods is the best game of 2020 bar none. something mainstream media can never understand how games should be like.

one main game 20 hour long FPS. other DLC expansion. and next one is coming. its Half life 2 with episodes equivalent of current gen.

TLOU2 was my GOTY until I played Ghost of Tsushima. It was great to see both of them nominated. Can’t wait to see what Sucker Punch and Naughty Dog make next.

@texasgoldrush: Kentucky Route Zero is in my goty contender list mostly for how creative and experimental it gets with narrative. That game at times is just fucking brilliant.

As for TLoU2, this being a mainstream event, it absolutely deserves to get goty, it's a game that takes huge risks and most of its execution simply outclasses most games. I'm not even a ND fan but level design, AI, animation, acting, sound design, etc... are just in such a high standard of execution it would be silly to give it to any other candidate.

TLOU2 gameplay was the selling point for me but the story how it handle its characters was lackluster but never a game breaker for me. Ghost of Tsushima however was the best PS4 game I personally enjoy this year from gameplay to storytelling in Feudal Japan era. Either way, I enjoy both games but GoT is my GOTY PS4 over TLOU2 but still, kudos to TLOU2 winning GOTY 2020.
