Except that isn't always the case. If you buy a rig equal in power to the 360 for about 580-650, you could just as easily end up spending less over the span of a generation thanks to cheaper games and free online. PC gaming isn't innately more expensive, thats dependant on how you play.

Thats nice, how are your $60 games going for you?

Hey look! New pc game, $20 even $30 in some cases cheaper. Face it, the initial cost of PC gaming is greater, but the software difference over the entire generation more than make up for it.

Not to mention the misconception that you don't need to upgrade for another console generation if you get a good computer in the first place.

Thats extremely easy to do. The cell isn't innately better at processing than the standard dual core. They both serve entirely different purposes. Besides, PCs don't need Blu-Ray to begin with.

It's 8 threads, not 8 cores, isn't it?

If so, compeltely different thing. Oh yeah, and RAM is nice to have too. D:

You could probably buy a prebuilt PC for $800 more powerful than the PS3. The PS3 is extremely weak compared to the PC and 360 thanks to it's inferior CPU structure and bad GPU.

No games have come out for the PS3 that proves it is a powerful system. Go cry more.

And it terms of price, the PS3 is only marginally cheaper than a gaming rig. Not worth it.

Umm no it isn't. Is the lack of ram, poor games, and the fact you can't even run a football game at 30 fps enough to tell you that the POS 3 is a failure?

Enjoy your delays.

cod4 for example runs better on ps3 then 360, y? because devs had more time to work on the system and such ( been almost year since ps3 launch, and some devs are still trying to get it to work, your looking at early multiplats with poor performance, yet now cod4 (a multiplat) ps3 beats 360 version.

"Still, as strong as Call of Duty 4 is shaping up to be in the gameplay department, the most immediately impressive aspect is by far its graphics. The PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions all look surprisingly similar, but that's not due to one platform being the lead; Infinity Ward personally assured us that development occurred simultaneously on all three platforms, and that there wasn't a base system. With that said, the console similarities end when it comes to textures, lighting and resolutions, because those three areas make the PlayStation 3 version definitely excel over the Xbox 360 SKU. Regardless, every console owner will proudly use Call of Duty 4 to showcase their high-definition TV, because COD4 is by far the best-looking console game you will see this year."

Xbox360Fanboy12

This has been done before by much better people with much better arguments. The facts still remain:

- Consoles are "less of a hassle" than PCs, but not everybody on every system has major problems. Lemmings shake their heads in shame at the go-tard that tips his 360 sideways to watch the little lights rotate and whines when his discs get screwed up, and Hermits shake their heads at the fool who buys a 7600 and gripesabout poor performance despite it being "new". Consoles being less of a hassle than PCs is akin to being the thinnest kid at fat camp.

- You can talk price all you want, but people will spend assloads of money on stupid crap that they want no matter what. Plus, what are you posting on right now? I'm guessing its a PC. My gaming PC can do everything a console and a household PC can do, only its all-in-one. So of course I had to pay more for it than I would for *just* a console or *just* a PC.

This is a great demonstration of how blown up the roll of hardware is in the appearance of a game. Games won't look good without good models, a good engine, good textures and algorithms designed to make the best use of the hardware on which this data is being stored and processed. Each platform simply takes a different approach to storing and handling this data. Now, as far as the issue of price, I see this as a mute point as PC is a readily expandable platform which may be taken advantage of in many other ways than gaming. Of course, one could argue that the PS3 and X360 are composed of comparable hardware, but the architecture is not one which is useful for anything but their intended purpose. If you want to get down to the actual price per teraflop, the PS3s cell processor will actually demonstrate a greater value than anything else, but its processor architecture is much more difficult to take advantage of. Its relatively low RAM also gives it some issues. I suppose I can sum all this up by saying, there are so many variables to take into account here, that you really can't just slap a price on components and say one system is cheaper for the power it delivers. So much of it is dependant on the way developers handle the tools made available by the platform for which they are developing. Hope this helps put things in prospective.

That's an incredibly biased statement. Saying multiplats are better on the PC is like saying ice cream is better when consumed with a spoon. You may prefer it that way, but those with crappy spoons may not like the way their ice cream tastes. Horrible comparison, I know, but it's all I could come up with :P

And expansion packs.. No, just no. Although an expansion pack may contain more content than a lot of games, they are, after all, expansions. The concept at play here is that they take an existing gameplay experience and expand on it. They should in no way be considered as a seperate game.

Console gaming is cheaper, but PC gaming is better.

thats a difference of 300 bucks there sparky. Why the heck would you buy a 22 inch monitor for a console. I have 2 widescreen 22s for my desktop alone. Come on man, upgrade to the bigscreen baby, at least a 42.

Anyway, my point is that you're going to wind up spending some cash bro, plus I didn't even factor in the added cost of XBL marketplace, I've spent at least 200 in there this year alone. If you have the resources to buy a console, you have the resources to get a pretty good PC. You don't have to go wild like me, I use my PC for Animation so I needed it roided out.

It's all in what you need.

And skodas are cheaper than bentley's, so what if it's cheaper, you get what you pay for. If people want to spend thier hard earned money on PC hardware then let them, they will get a better experience than on a console.

I sold my 360 as I was buying alot of games, and they are not cheap here in the uk. I found the games lacked any real depth compared to pc games. and yeah m/kb ftw. Spent a bit of cash and have myself a console killing rig, but not buying as many games because pc games have more depth/online (there are loads of nubs on xbox live, obviously the pc isn't without it's share, but more on xbox live).

Are you just trying to make yourself fell better? trying to say that becuse it's cheaper it's somehow better?

[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="deadmeat59"]ps3 has 8 core cpu and blu ray drive with built in wi fi and blue tooth and a hard drive i dare hermits make a rig more powerful then ps3.deadmeat59
Thats extremely easy to do. The cell isn't innately better at processing than the standard dual core. They both serve entirely different purposes. Besides, PCs don't need Blu-Ray to begin with.

how much would that pc cost u? the cell is a powerful cpu and it way better then core duo . plus the cheapest blu ray drive i saw is 800$

I said minus a bluray drive, because thats not needed on the PC. Not to mention the cell isn't that great yet at gaming. Its all about architecture, not OMG I HAVE A HIGHER NUMBAR LAWL.

I hate how cows throw in stuff like watching blu ray movies as to why ps3 is superior. Challenging the PC to "who can do more things other than playing games" is retarded.

One thing that console gamers cannot seem to understand is that PCs are not monolithic machines like consoles. You can swap in new parts to increase performance any time you want. Most PC gamers do not buy a brand new machine from case to keyboard every 4 years on schedule like consoles are released. They instead buy parts at random times to increase the power of their current machines.

Imagine that instead of having to wait 4-5 years to get a new PS4 or whatever for $600, you could instead buy a Cell 2.0 CPU with 16 cores at 3ghz for $150, increase the availible memory to 2gb for $60 and buy a RSX 2.0 for $150 in 1-2 years.

And imagine that instead of a single choice, you could pick a Cell 2.0 Super Edition that was clocked at 4ghz for $500 or a Xenos 2.0 Entry Edition that was clocked at 2,5ghz for $75 depending on how much money you had.

Or you could just get an RSX 2.5 for $400.

Thats what PCs are about. As many options as you want, whenever you want them, We are not handed a piece of hardware and told to deal with it for 5 years until they allow you to buy a new machine.

Cheapest Bluray Drive I saw was for 400, but whats the point? No one in the PC dev market are even thinking about bluray games and why should they? Most gamers like myself have at least a 320gb HDD so it makes the bd drv insignifigant.
