PC gaming is too much of a hassle. Constant upgrading. Not to mention checking every game to see if your PC meets the requirements. I also think that most console games ported to the PC ends up being worse.

Console gaming > PC gaming.

PC gaming > Console gaming. Since pc's can do every that a console can do and more. The reason it cost more then a console is because it does over 100 times more stuff. TBH your getting your moneys worth with a computer.

1: You upgrade once evey two years.

2: Oh noes reading 4 lines of system requierments(ram, cpu, gpu, HD space) is such a hassle!!!1!!

3: Console games that get ported to pc's are few and far between.

Checking requirements can be tedious only with an antiquated system. For most it's never an issue. Besides, is that the sole reason for your stance?

so youre saying its hard? odd since ive been gaming on a PC since i was 7, when i had to learn DOS since my dad got sick of booting things for me. if at 7 i can figure out system requirements, and how to run command lines in DOS, i think a preteen-adult of anything above mental retardation wouldnt have problems figuring it out.

Nah. For one, MODS. They really make a game last much longer than it normally would(see Unreal Tournament, Half-Life, and their sequels for key examples). And I have yet to see a console game get any user-created content outside of rudimentary maps and missions made with castrated editors in a select few console games. Second, I can use any controller I want-KB+M, gamepad, you name it. This extends to high-end racing wheels and HOTAS setups, and sometimes even head-tracking devices. This also means that PC gamers get hardcore simulations(Steel Beasts Pro PE, GTR2, IL-2 Sturmovik, and Falcon 4.0, just to name a few), which don't ever seem to make it to the consoles for some reason... Also, you don't always have to upgrade-just turn down the graphics settings for a playable framerate. Okay, so it doesn't look as good as it does on the box, but it'll probably still look better than most console games even after turning down the settings provided that you have a good PC. I will admit, though, PC gaming isn't faultless. I've had to reformat the PC I'm typing this post on three or four times in the several years that I've had it because it suddenly failed to boot Windows XP for whatever reason. Viruses, adware, etc. are certainly NOT fun.

Actually, you upgrade of your own volition. A gaming rig you purchase now thats more powerful thanconsoles, will still be more powerful than consoles by the end of the generation. What you console fanboys fail to realize, is that PC games can SCALE. While PC games do evolve at an alarming rate, you don't need to upgrade to get graphics equal to consoles.

I don't think one is better than the other, just different. I prefer games on consoles like FF, MGS, Halo, but then games like Diablo 2 are in my top ten of all time, but I don't play any other PC games.

You just mix and match to what suits you best.

PCs have some of the greatest games of all time. The graphics on PCs are better. Games like FPS and RTS work the best on PCs.

Pc games are often buggier due to the fact that devs have to design for non-specific hardware. Also, some enres of games, like action-adventure games (DMC, Drake's, etc) are often better played with a controller. Console RPGs likewise (FF for example).

It's also less hassle to own a console. Cheaper, too.

Actually, PC games are about as stable as console games. The reason they get so many patches is because its easier to patch PC games. The mere logistics of patching console games up until now where incredibly rough. Games like Socom went ages with blatant map hacks and exploits. Not to mention over time a PC can be chaeper.

I just love the idea that convenience makes one platform better than another, rather than the games.

In other words, you have no real tangible evidence that points to the consoles being beter in any technical capacity whatsoever? Fair enough.

The PC can do far more than just play games. The PC is always more powerful, and is capable of so much more than consoles.
The games are also better. Not saying console games are bad, but I'm an FPS and an RTS fan, and they feel more at home on the PC. The controls are also better, for me at least. Those things however, are my opinion.

I do enjoy console gaming, I own a PS2 at the moment. I am purchasing a 360 this year and I enjoy playing my friend's 360 when I'm over there. Those consoles have some very good games, themselves.

So I enjoy both, but PC gaming more.

Exactly, you have no tangible evidence that poitns to the console being supperior in any technical capacity. We are ahead in graphics, sound, and sheer ammount of high quality titles. It is, like you said, mere preference.

The complexity of your response to him is overshadowed by the brilliant simplicity of his post. It simply doesn't require or ask for a retort. Whether or not said evidence was had or not is completely irrelevent to the overwhelming undeniability of "It's preference."
