It depends on the game. Certain types of games I prefer on PC and certian types I prefer on Consoles. I also prefer Xbox Live to PC online.Zero5000X
Yeah but they are the same price, I would buy the gaming PC it can play most console games and better than the consoles. ....Plus....MMO's are pretty fun
Console gaming and PC gaming are two different entities... crossing them just lowers the amount of variety a gamer has to play. I wish the PS3 and 360 weren't trying to integrate PC features into consoles, because I game on my consoles and do all that PC stuff on my PC. I just want a gaming console.foxhound_fox
agreed. i love consoles for games, and pcs are for all kinds of other stuff. i play some games on the pc, but i have a laptop and i don't upgrade, i use 'till death. trying to make consoles into pcs defeats the purpose.
i know hermits are going to come out with there superiority complex, but consoles offer a unique kind of gameplay and online experience. it doesn't make them better than pc, just as superior graphics don't make the pc superior to consoles. its all preference.
those who have actually played consoles and pc games would know what i'm talking about, unless blinded by fanboyism.
I love consoles i just hate when people go around "OMGZ ROXS BEST GR4PHICS EV4"
I love consoles verry much i grow up with them and some of best games ever are made on console
I just wish that more people realise that "other half" of those best games ever made is on PC,and ignoring PC is really not fairÂ
You don't have a choice for me... where's "I wouldn't, but I can see where others might"?
Look, PC gaming isn't a substitute for console gaming. Â You're not bothered to choose resolutions or set up your detail levels - the developers designed the entire game to hit a performance target on fixed hardware. Â Every game knows exactly what kind of input device you have. Â Every game knows exactly how your system is configured. Â Every game uses the same friends list and VoIP system. Â The philosophy is "you don't have to **** around with setting anything up - we'll take care of it for you. Â Just play."
The PC caters to an entirely different audience than that, and that's fine. Â But they're not substitutes for one another - not even close.Â
yes for the 360/ps3 but not for the wii, the wii is its own little fun joy box
Â
only sports and RPG games are better on consoles and i dont like sports gamesÂ
Ideal choice would be ALL consoles + powerfull pc
Having only one of them is also "poor man's entertainment"
Rich man = everythin from PC to PS3 and DS
In the end, games are what mather, and someone who dont want to play lets say great game like MGS4 just because its on (opposing)console is really fanboyishÂ
I sometimes ask myself - who seperated us?
If i play PC does that mean i should play pc only? no
If i play x360 does that mean that wii sucks? no
They are all great and main reason of hate is effort to justify purchase and i think its not okÂ

But WRPG is bether on PC,games like Planescape Torment,Baldurs Gate,Morrowind etc. are pinacle of RPG genre
Dont forget that most J"rpg" games are actualy just some action-adventure games with inventory and level up
Not much ROLE PLAYING involvedÂ

Would you buy a gaming pc over a console if they were the same price?PC_X360
your poll answers are kinda poor, in the future you may want to think of all answers before making a poll. Where is the just No.
Myself I work all day on the computer and do then when home I do homework on the computer. Because of this I have found it hard to game on my computer and even if I were to buy the best video cards I know that I just would not enjoy it. There is a huge number of PC games I loved at one time, but this was before online collage and using the computer at work.
I just feel more relaxed playing games well sitting on the couch or standing with DDR.

If you can
Â
1.Give me a pc which can play gta4 for 200 dollars
2.Guarantee that said PC will play all games released on it for next 3 years
3.Guarantee that said PC wont have any DRM issues
4.Guarantee that said PC ensures that I wont find a single hacker whenver I play online
5.Guarantee that said PC will allow me to play split screen
6.Guarantee that said PC can has jrpg'sÂ
Then I will convert to pc gaming

This thread isn't about that at all, but nice job making it obvious you didn't read the OP.Â
No I wouldn't. I have the means to purchase a gaming pc, instead I chose what I have listed in my sig. I'll be more productive with a Mac.
And most importantly, I don't enjoy gaming with a mouse and keyboard. I much prefer a controller, no matter how bad the accuracy may be compared to the keyboard and mouse. Oh, and I like to play my games on my 40 inch HDTV instead of my crap 17 inch monitors.
Actually, now that I think about it, there are a lot of reasons why I prefer consoles over gaming computers.
Xbox LIVE is a great service and all my friends are on it, so I can play games with them.
I like to play games from the comfort of my couch, not on my work chair.
The few exclusives each consoles have are well worth it.
Just because a game is multiplat, doesn't make it a void argument when casting which console to play it on. Meaning, if a game is available on 360/PC or PS3/PC, I'd still prefer it on a console.
Many other reasons, really. for me...at least.
If PC gaming is "too hard" then stick with consoles. I'm not going to argue with ridiculous comments that painfully show they have no idea what they're talking about.Â

This pretty much sums up my feelings. I play Console games and PC games for different reasons. They both offer something unique and I can see why someone can have a preference of one over another but I simply cannot choose a favorite.

If money wasn't an issue then why would the PC have to be 200 dollars? You contradicted yourself.
Exactly and he wouldn't mind upgrading every 2 years, if money wasn't an issue. If money wasn't an issue then why would the PC have to be 200 dollars? You contradicted yourself.

console gaming is just a different form of entertainment.
It's like the format war right now when you think of it.
DVD = Consoles
BluRay = PC
But you're still watching the same movie. same with PC and consoles. You're still playing games on either system, that's what matters
Not really. PC centric games are totally different from console games.console gaming is just a different form of entertainment.

well yeah that's because console communities shift between different systems each gen. Some people that had a Ps2 last gen have now a 360 and vice versa. PC communities shift between different games only. PC was always there.
that said, there's still lots of competition going on on consoles. Socom, GRAW, Gears and even Halo. (to name a few)

You hit the point,
That is why I play on consoles. I lay down, relax, have fun and forget about problems at job.
I don't care if I'm winning or losing, I just want to shoot someone.
But the steep learning curves of competitive pc games are still enough to show the difference between pc and console gaming. You can't just pick up cs, bf2 or warcraft 3 and start dishing out ownage overnight.well yeah that's because console communities shift between different systems each gen. but that's not my point. As I said, console gaming is just a different form of entertainment.
But you're still playing games on both PC and consoles. It's still gaming on both. PC just has the advantage of beeing lots of other things besides a gaming machine.

no we're not playing the SAME games, but we're still PLAYING GAMES.
I guess my "format war anology" was kinda poor.
^change that sentence to: But you're still watching movies and my anology works;)
To your topic title - No. At least so long as they dont try and continue too far down the road they are on.
To your initial post - that is irrelevent, because it depends on the games. It would be tempting personally to go for the console though. Regardless of what Hermits say about how many games they have on their platform and how many genres, there is no accounting for taste. That includes accessibility. Consoles were initially designed to be an accessible alternative to PC gaming. PC gaming requires a great deal of patience compared to console gaming. However, I do feel like the HD generation is attempting to turn consoles into mini-PC's, which can only be bad. Just look at the 360. Its riddled with technical issues because they are trying to mould a PC and console together. Silly idea. At least the games are good. Then there is the fact that the original Xbox had some great PC games other consoles didnt yet many of its current weaknesses were non-existant. The Xbox was more of a "true" console than its successor. It doesnt mean the 360 or PS3 are bad, but I would prefer if devs would end it where we are now and stop trying to turn consoles into poor copies.
And pay to play? Urgh. Its not a bad thing in itself, but you know that companies are going to abuse it. At least on consoles anyway. Most DLC on the PC is free. And its not like this stuff couldnt be included.
