It's so ridiculous that home console graphic is so behind PC. Home consoles are like three or four generation behind PC. We just get a release date for Beyong Good and Evil HD for the home console. People are really excited about it, but I already played it on HD with my PC six years ago. On the other hand, handheld consoles are only one generation behind home consoles, yet at the same time, a generation of handheld lasts much longer than home consoles on the average. Are home consoles only capable of playing catch up in terms of specs or will an OnLive approach be a solution to Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft?

I think that its because you cant upgrade consoles and they wanted to make it cheap so just threw in pretty crap stuff for what was the time, not even comparing to now.

3-4 generations? That's too much. I say about .5 of a generation ahead. And most people don't get consoles for top-of-the-line graphics.

As long as most games are multiplatform the graphics will all look alike because the engine has to be able to run on 5-6 year old hardware that are on the Consoles. Pc processing power (including gpu's) are so far ahead of the software being used. that many people havent had to upgrade their gaming Pc's for years because the graphics have been at a stand still for the last three years. Even though many believe the console graphics are getting better, which they really arent, more cutting and tweaking is needed to give the affect that litle tid bits are improved.

Oooh PC is more powerful than consoles. I wonder why? Maybe it has something to do with the fact that A) We haven't gotten new consoles in YEARS and we can't upgrade the capabilities of our consoles B) PC gets better tech on a regular basis

This topic seems to be quite pointless. I'm sure most logical gamers recoginize the difference potential between them. I personally think, for five year old tech that consoles aren't doing too shabby. Sure there's plenty of room for improvement, but eh... it'll get there next-gen. I think the only depressing part is current PC tech is rarely taken advantage of visually and won't be very much until consoles push forward.

meh, graphics I couldn't care about, but when yoy play certain games on PC like Civ you realise just how far back consoles are, esp when you compare civ on the consoles and how its scored compared to the PC version, you see the vast gulf in standards too.

We know the Xbox 360 was out in 2005 and the PlayStation 3 in 2006. We also know the latest graphic cards and the games that have a minimum system requirements much higher than a console hardware can blow console games into the middle of last week graphic-wise. We also know PC gaming is bloody expensive, but really hermits need to stop coming here everyday saying just how much great it is to justify the money they bury on a gaming PC.

Really? They "bury" money into a gaming rig? You do realize there are such things as budget gaming rigs... Right?

I'd say consoles are a generation behind at most but that is still quite a leap, especially when 2011 comes around with The Witcher 2.
