It doesn't matter what it is. The Wii came after the Gamecube so it is considered next gen.
Kind of suspicious how they rounded the 360 to exactly 1,000,000 when no other console is rounded.
EDIT: That is BS on 360 numbers just went back and found out 360 sold 1.2 million US by the end of March 2006 NPD numbers.
"Sales of Microsoft's Xbox 360 videogame console surpassed 1.2 million in the U.S. during March, as almost 192,000 units ... "
Not to mention the first three months of 360 were not resupplied due to not having their second manufacturing site and launching worldwide.

I wonder then why there are terms such as next gen graphics and sounds.
Anyways, next gen is floppin bad. MS and Sony need to drop the price a bit to compete against their own old systems.

It's people like you that stagnate the industry. You need to be more tolerant of change. You're stuck in your habits. Technically, I think all gens had vastly improved graphics over the ones before, so he's kinda right.
Some of the gens were even called 32/64 bit era, 8 bit era etc. instead of 4th gen or 5th gen, to symbolize the raise in graphic power.

Yes it was assumed that consoles would improve from one gen to the next, because that has historicaly been the case. People assumed the next gen would have better graphics and sound, But that's not what defines a gen. A generation is just the passing of one console to the next in it's line.

You see that I don't understand. Like consoles are more next gen depending on how powerful they are? I always here that crap, that it's not next gen because it's not as powerful. Even though the Wii is more powerful than last gen consoles. But I guess you buy games that you feel is the most 'next-gen' I buy consoles that I think is the most fun.
I really do love it.
Xbox and Dreamcast probably are the systems with the best first year ever. People forget the PS2 was 21months old when the Xbox came out. So FFX, GTA3, GT3, etc...Were all 2nd to 3rd year games. Hence why Xbox's sales were so remarkable. Remember in it's first year it had Halo, Oddworld world, DOA3, Rallisport, SC, SH2, MGS2Sub, PGR, NFL Fever, and many more. Xbox probably also had the best launch ever for a consule. I mean they really had tons of great quality games.
And it is funny...Even though 360 has a bit less systems sold than PS3...The software sales are nearly double. Tells you about the better system and explains why...Developers are moving towards 360 this gen. If PS3 sells 20million units and 360 10million units. Yet every 360 owner has 5games compared to PS3's two...Who wins then^^

Acenso
Early PS3 = BC with PS2.
Early 360 No BC. Updates later, for 20% BC.
360 = more games sold because of this as well.

It said how the system did in four months. I guarantee all the PS3, Wii systems were counted in the Kotku article. They rounded the 360 to a perfect 1,000,000. Well done, Mr. Holmes.
So, it turns out they didn't do 1.2 in 4 months.
Hm, does anyone remember all those threads/posts about history repeating itself, a few months ago in SW?
I remember two reasons why people said the PS3 will fail:
1. The console with the best hardware always lost (nevermind the fact that people now say the 360's is stronger).
2. Every brand who has ruled the market for 2 generation lost the 3rd (Nintendo as a prime example).
Well, here's one to support Sony:
All of Sony's consoles had the worst first-months sales. That includes the PS3 (as a person here stated the 360 had better sales).
So if history repeats itself, and Sony continues with the tradition of selling horribly at first, PS3 might be the winner once again.Xolver
Although this has been known by some of us, it's nice to see more notice.
But PS3 is fastest selling console in history :cry:goblaa
Don't think launching in 2 while the competitors launched in all three helped Sony
