crytek's CEO says that since the hardware limitations on consoles that there will be no major upgrades until 2012 or until the new consoles are released.

well for a pc gamers stand point thats awful why should the pc be put in the same category as a console(i mean NO offense to console fanboys) i think its just better to separate the two, the pc is not limited by hardware seeing how you can change it at anytime you want. now if he's just speaking for the future of gaming on crytek's behalf i think this is awful, but if he is talking about the entire gaming industry well this sucks. im an enthusiast(its an expensive hobby i know) but still 3 years of no leaps in graphical design is going to be such a bore.

sorry for spelling issues, but what are your thoughts: do think he's talking about the entire gaming industry or just crytek's behalf.

and those console gamers do you think pc gaming and console gaming should be on the same level(not saying one is better than the other)

i just think for both the interest of pc gamers and console gamers the two should be split up and not be compared, because its always going to come down to preference

I think it's a good thing, now people don't have to ever worry about upgrading for quite a while.

Consoles holding back PC technology is common sense, however one should ask themselves given no console restriction would that hardware be fully utilized?

Crysis supposedly cost $22 million to make, that is an awful lot of money to invest into one platform. There is no Microsoft or Sony to encourage Crytek to stay on PC; so they simply followed their financial interests into cross platform development.

Without financial support from a large company like Microsoft or Sony, any game with high expenses 'will' go cross platform. So would a game unrestricted by consoles fully utilize modern PC hardware? Looking at the big players in PC gaming; such as Valve and Blizzard, the answer is no.

Only low cost games can afford to stay platform exclusive, holding back on hardware utilization broadens your audience on PC and keeps costs down. Though with that said a game exclusive to PC would still have visual advantages over console games without having to invest more, a game built on PC can design itself to be PC orientated and take advantage of the platform specific merits.

No a big deal, It is only graphically, atleast when devs master the hardware they can change the gameplay aspects more.

Its called EXAGGERATION. Ever heard of it kiddo? You may find information on this entitiy here.

no really!!!! im so proud of you you, thats a big word im surprised you know how to use it. my point is many people can run crysis on high setting all you need is a geforce 260 or better(which is the most common card out right now)or have an sli cheaper card, its not that difficult to do and some people enjoy doing it

It's time that people face the truth and realize that consoles are just more popular than the PC nowadays. This isn't the 90s when the PC was the epicenter of the gaming community. I'm glad Crytec has woken up and smelled the coffee. Flame me all you want, no PC fan can debate that their platform of choice has lost it's magic over the years.

I find it funny how you try to assume the path of an intellectual despite the fact that your lack of knowledge about the matter is very, very clear. You're talking as if everyone here can afford a card that can play the game on High settings WITH a good framerate and that everyone knows how to install a new card and the such. In reality, a VERY small percentage of people have rigs that can run Crysis the way its meant to be played so I.E nothing is comprimised. I mean, why else did Crysis sell poorly near the beginning of its release? Thats changed now that the standard of the average passive gamer's home pc has gone up since 07 BUT, its still not quite enough to play Crysis on HIGH without any comprimises.

It's the truth. Nothing wrong with PC gaming but without consoles PC gaming would be about as well known as hackey sack and gaming would never gain ground.
