Not a big deal, but I thought I would vent here anyways. I own a 360 and PS3, but tonight when I wanted to play some MLB08 The Show, I found out my controller wasn't charged. I only own 1 controller, so I had to hook up my USB cord so to charge my PS3 controller and I started thinking how it sucked that I couldn't just replace the battery like I could with the 360 or even hook up a long cord so to play the game while my controller was charging. I could of played the game while charging the controller with the 1 foot cord that Sony gave me, but that would be stupid. Too bad Sony didn't make it so that the batteries could be changed on their controllers like MS so that when your controller is drained you can just swap them with another battery or even, if you have to, use some AA batteries or like I said before, use a long USB cable like the one MS provided with the 360. Sucks that I have to wait. Guess I'll just charge tonight and play tomorrow.

The charge cord for the 360 is almost too long. I only use the rechargeables but I have some AA's nearby if I need them.

I know. Thats what I'm doing now and I guess I should start doing all the time. Kind of annoying, but nothing I can't handle.

The 360 doesn't come with the charge kit. I'm sure you could find a longer USB chord for less then the price of the charge kit

Yeah I use the rechargeables too, but they cost $$$. Its nice that MS provided long cords so that you could play games no matter your battery life.

But, I still have the option of removable batteries. The NiMH battery in the PS3 controller will eventually die...fact.

Like I said, the 360 comes with a long USB cord so you can actually play even if your controller has no battery life. PS3 can do that as well but the cord is only like a foot and half.

I'll pick up the $5 cord then, but no way is the cord that came with the PS3 5 feet long. I may have shorted it a little saying its only a foot and half...maybe it reaches a little over 2 feet, but NO WAY is it 5 feet long. At least not the one they gave me. I wouldn't lie about video games dude....thats stupid.

Yeah, Sony pretty much totally f'd up with the Sixaxis. No rumble. No swappable battery packs. Crappy triggers?

This is what happens with companies think they rule the world.

QFT, the worst part is they think they are always right and when they arent they deny being wrong.

I bought a $25 Madcatz wired 360 controller. The analog acts a little screwy in menus but other than that it's the best third party controller I have ever used. I got it for emergencies and for certain games that kill batteries but now I pretty much use it all the time. The rb and lb triggers are better than stock.

I just measured mine and it seems that it is about 4.5 feet long so your right.....my bad. Its still unusable (playing wise) to me because I can't play games 4 feet away from my HDTV. I swear this thing was shorter, but whatever. I still love my PS3...and my PSN is KDT55 if you still don't believe that I own a PS3. Add me and I'll kick your ass in any game. (Just mad that I'm wrong about the length of the cord).

Wow what a great excuse you will have another $50 controller so it doesent matter the first $50 one is gone.

When the batteries die out after several years of use, you can open the controller and replace them yourself, or send the controller to Sony and they will replace them for free.

It sounds like a good deal to me

Its not the fact that the PS3 controller will die out, its the fact that it will slowly lose its luster and will only last a couple of hours instead of quite a few'. But I don't care about that personally, because I will have gotten my 15 FT USB cable anyways. Truthfully though, while its nice that the PS3 controller comes with a built in battery, it would be nice if you could replace the batteries. Thats just being real.

Seriously....Sony will replace them. You mean their not in the business of ripping us off and making us pay for new '$50' controllers when they die out? Awesome. How do you do this and where can I read the small print regarding this 'battery replacement' program?

The controller will last like 5 years or more.. id rather have to deal with that then a bunch of batteries and battery packs... i already use batteries for my mouse, my 2 remotes, etc..

Rotating 2 battery packs is really that difficult? Just as difficult as getting up and changing disks I suppose....

So you would rather lose your $50 after 5 years than having to charge a bettery pack every few days or simply leaving it plugged in from time to time?

Sony released a statement saying when and if the controller batteries die out, they will provide a service to exchange the items.

The Owners manual also gives instructions to replace the batteries yourself

And how much is a XBox Live gold subscription? Seems $50 is a popular number eh? I can play online (and you know everyone here does :)) for free on PSN and cover the cost of one controller in 12 months when they will easily last much longer than that.

Ownage only hurts when you care too much about winning pointless arguments.
