Kinda a random thought was talking about this with a friend. But what would be a cooler mmo idea?
RE has a lot more potential
Pokemon already has the foundation for an MMO.(Pokemon World Online doesnt count)

RE: Outbreak was actually pretty cool.
Id probably prefer a RE MMO but the entire survival horror elements wouldnt translate well.
I can think of a ton of franchises which would be better suited to an MMO than either of those. Out of the two, it's clearly pokemon. But how many times does Nintendo need to reissue the same game? They need to give it a rest already and come up with some new ideas. At this stage RE might as well be dead.
Resident Evil MMO would be cool if they do it right. Say you can keep you items just like in Demon's Souls when you are infected and you can start to hunt people down. If you kill enough people you level up to become a stronger zombie. At anytime or when you are killed as a zombie you come back as a human.hiryu3
Sounds like a very good idea for a multiplayer mode spin off but would flat out not work as an MMO.

The one problem with any cool MMO ideas is that they wont last. Because of WoW there cant be any new MMO's. I think the Genre has a lot of potential if people didnt think they wouldn't last more than a month. I feel like if any franchise can have a successful mmo it needs a fan base behind it, thats why new ip mmos are crippled out of the gate. So I feel like RE and Pokemon have a fanbase behind them each that could support them.

There are a few existing franchises which could topple WoW now, and as time goes on, WoW will weaken just like anything as insanely popular. When The Old Republic is released, we will see how it is. Star Wars is still the best placed franchise to take the throne. But WoW wont be this popular forever, and there is much much room for improvement over it's format. I suspect a real MMO TPS/FPS RPG could show it up as the boring timewaster it really is. A Mass Effect MMO would be much better.

As a pc gamer I am planning on buying Old Republic. I love SW and I want it to Knock WoW off its damn throne. But yea i agree its going to become dated soon. Hopefully people notice how dumb these expansions are and it will be more sooner than later. Mass Effect would be a great Idea. But i dont think it could be done anytime soon for 2 reasons. It would take a lot of time. The scale of the game wouldnt support consoles. Xbox is were its fanbase is.
I believe an gameinformer mag asked a naughty dog guy how he would do a re game. It based around survivfor energy. Go hungry and you dont move as well. Weapons were limited and if you ran out or need more ammo, you and your group would have to make a dash to the gun shop to resupply up. Low health? Gotta make a run to the hospital with L4d type zombies. I might be missing some other details but thats the gist of it. Seemed like a really good setup for an re game

Pokemon :D
after Playing Pearl, Pokemon is just Screaming to be a MMO.
(remember the Cave area where you could go wireless and play with other people with Pokemon and you can play like Capture the flag and stuff?)
I think a good Pokemon MMO would obviously include a choice of starter towns, and you would have to travel to each region to get all of the Pokemon (you could only get the new Pokemon from GS when in Jhoto, RS when in Hoenn, DPPt when in Sinnoh) and definitely open, so you can go pretty much wherever you want whenever, provided you have the money.

Choosing starter town I agree. But they would need to make it possible for you to battle gym leaders and travel from there. EX: Cinawood is a island and you dont know surf. The issues they would need to work around. Like adding a boat or somehting
I can't see RE working as an MMO, as it's core premise is about isolation and survival. Pokemon would be an AWESOME 3D MMO. Imagine the PVP duels, unleashing a Squirtle to own someone. 8)

Yah, I mean I could see RE as a very good online game where you worked cooperatively with 2-3 other people, and it incorporated features of an mmo such as resource gathering, and such, but not a full blown MMO. Would be cool to actually have to live, and surive in a world taken over by zombies rather than just shooting your way through them without too much hassle, and going straight to the final boss after two days time.
I think an ambitious Pokemon MMO could be great. Multiple starter towns, all the regions plus a couple of new ones or something. Clan battles, Team PvE, team quests, team minigames etc.tagyhag
I think team quests against team rocket would be cool. Or even joining them

This +100
These two are right.
I think a Pokemon MMO would be a great way for the franchise to evolve. It could be 3D and real time. It would be really fun to go on a raid with multiple trainers to take down a giant legendary pokemon, which would actually be giant.sam_nintendo
I think seperating it from Wow would need to be important for it to stand on its own.
Harry Potter MMO. That would make a load of money.HahadoukenOr even a Naruto mmo would work...Different ninja villages as starter areas, pvp options would include invade other villages, fight other players while doing quests for your village and dungeons could work out as battles against the mainstay villians like Orochimaru, the akasuki members, and the Pains.

I always wanted to join one of the enemy teams. In Red, Blue, Green, Yellow I always wanted to join Team Rocket they always asked but my character automatically chose not to join.[QUOTE="gamer0100"]

As long as we're not stuck with Zubats and can actually use our own Pokemon, that'd be awesome.
A Pokémon MMO done right would absolutely own, being the fierce competitor that I'am, and I'm not really into Pokémon. I would have loved to see a true survival horror MMO as well though, in the likes of 24 days later.

Absolutely, I just used the term raid to denote a group endeavor.... Dude Pokemon.. Hands down...
I would actually pay monthly for that thing until it bores me.:P
