Coolest unit in a strategy game?

It doesnt have to be the most powerful; just the coolest.

I'd say either the Zergling (a sea of them is badass), or the Tripod thing that the Scrin get in CnC3 (dont remember the name, but it sort of looks like the ones from the Tom Cruise War Of The Worlds movie).

The Krogoth from Total Annihilation holds a special place in my heart. Seeing that thing tear through an army of land and air units and a base was sick...buuzer0

Everybody has SC covered. So I'll say pike men in the Total War series are extremely effective once in a spear wall formation, with cavalry on the side just waiting to flank the enemy. Unbeatable.

Also, Frost Wryms are very effective in Warcraft 3.

Petards in AOE2.

You can just blow the crap out of your enemies buildings so easily. I beat the game using mainly them.

I know man. Especialy when your in a fight and your playing as chaos, your getting run down and then you hear "KIILL, KIIIIIIIIIILLLL". Brings a smile to your face knowing whats gonna happen next :D

Definately the "Ghost" from StarCraft

• He's go the coolest name, "Ghost"
• He's got the coolest sounding Rank, "Specialist"
• He's enhanced by Cybernetics and breathes out green myst.
• My man has the Splinter Cell Head Gear.
• He can drop nukes on people.
• He can disable vehicles.

He has bad ass lines.

• "Somebody call for an exterminator?"

• I'm gone."
• "You called down the thunder....now reap the whirlwhind!"

I don't remember the name of the RTS but it was in the late 90's and it had humans verse Greys (aliens). Humans got a bonus for fighting during the day and Greys at night. timing your attacks really did matter. the Humans top unit was the Sarge. He was basically a cyborg duke nukem type. damn funny unit.

I also thought the thumpers in Dune2000 were cool only because getting a worm to attack your enemies was fun :)

Mirror image is practically ineffective against skilled players, the enemy will usually control the real blademaster or use it to seek targets more than the clones. So it's almost transparent. Of course the HP points differ too, thank god for the alt button.

Even then, Blademasters are pretty much the best hero in the game.

Blademasters can be beaten, for instance if you're nite elf it would be wise to move all your buildings nearby the trees as when the blademaster attacks the wisps of course the buildings would turn and attack, also that mana burn spell comes in handy too. ;)gingerdivid

Most NE players hide their wisps near the gold mine so building Ancients to close that area off isn't really wise, especially when they are needed to morph into more Ancients. Besides, I make sure that the NE player is far, far away with his Demon Hunter before I jump out of windwalk and attack.

Heh, I almost never use Mirror Image. I mainly focus on Critical Bonus and Wind Walk for scouting expos. If I do use Mirror Image, it's during matches on larger maps since 4 BMs scouting the map in the same time is better than just one.

Pretty much. The Orcs have the best heroes in the game followed by the Undead. Humans can get away with one Human Hero and a Neutral while most top tiered NEs either go with the one NE hero route or just two Neutrals.

Don't take any notice of my ramblings, most of my knowledge is gained from replays. I tend to win quite frequently, although I haven't gone any further than the random pub.

Heh, I wish. When it came to both Starcraft and Warcraft 3, I entered too late competitive wise to even consider it. Besides, I simply don't have the time nowadays to devote to progaming since I actually want to do cartooning/comic book art more.

I will, however, take a swing at a few competitions once Starcraft 2 is released. :)

I tend to refrain myself from entering these tournaments, no matter how tempting it is. Mainly to avoid humiliation, although I like to think that once I've cracked micro management I could at least put up some kind of fight. As that's the line between skilled and pro (my assumption is likely to be incorrect).
