I think it is possible. Huge fan base would probly sky rocket ps3 console sales and close the gap between the 360....... as long as Microsoft keeps their nose out of it.

Yeah but a lot of people day dream of a remake.FF7 is as much a system seller as FF13 or any other Final Fantasy.
You guys act as if theres a massive fanbase of FF7-only players.

Yes, the same people who will buy FF13 and any other Final Fantasy :|
You guys act as if theres a massive fanbase of FF7-ONLY players. FFVII was significant in the sense that it was the first JRPG many people played thanks to its attractive CG movies which were very-rare at the time. It was also the last RPG many people played who couldn't get past the slow-text gameplay.
Have you guys ever seen remakes of other games? They never do the game justice, and they're usually deemed sub-par compared to the original. The remixed music is bad, the graphics aren't as nostalgic, blah blah blah.
I say it's better to leave FF7 as a PS1 title, and never remake it just as Nintendo will probably not remake Zelda OoT.

The game is in serious need of a graphical overhaul. Porting it is almost a crime considering the graphics are such a mess. Anyways, the fans have been asking for new graphics and sound for VII anyways. So ... not really.
What it WILL be criticized for is if it tries to incorporate the completely unecessary, contradictory post PS1 "VII compilation" that is hard at work to turn an already fragile plot into a broken mess. Also, there is a chance that square will try to make it over the top like AC which would just be terrible.
Yeah, let's make more remakes, eh?
Plus the PS3 is doing okay, it's not dead, yet still in 3rd place.
FFVII doesn't deserve a remake. It's hardly the be all end all of the JRPGs or even the FF series in general. The reason why it's so fondly remembered is because it was a lot of people's first JRPG. That's it. It didn't do anything new for the series other than being in 3D. Silent-Hal
VII was the most plot oriented Final Fantasy thus far and was a very charming game. It's still a charming game.
Just because a game is old and people like it doesn't mean that nostalgia is the sole reason. I haven't bought that argument since someone told me the only reason I liked the old Resident Evil style was because I was nostalgic - when I first played RE2 in 2005 (my first RE game).

If they would remake FFVII, they could just add new ideas to keep you happy.

Yeah but FFVII is the most wanted remake in the franchise.FFVII is overrated trash with a convoluted story and characters with no personality.
I want a remake of IX in glorious HD.

At the time I had already been playing many JRPG in the previosu two generations, and I still would like to see this game done with updated visuals and possible script tweaks/additional content.
The materia system was great, and I really enjoyed the plot/story.

If therw would be a exclusive FF7 remake for the PS3 i would buy one as soon as possible, it's my favorite game of all time.

REmake, DQIV, DQV, FFIV, Star Ocean: The First Departure are justa small amount of remakes off the top of my head that turned out great, if not better than their originals.
If MGS4 or KZ2 didn't "save" the PS3 then nothing will. But, I think the PS3 is doing fine. Just because it's name is Playstation doesn't mean it has to be the most popular console.
A remake of an old game would never save a platform.RK-Mara
FFXIII could give a boost, if it ever comes out. It's one of the reason why I purchased a PS3.
Why does the PS3 need saving? Just because it is in last place right now doesn't mean it will die.
Also if (heavens forbid) they make a FFVII remake it would not be exclusive, Square-Enix would want money so they would make it on the PS3, PC, and 360.
Yes of course, but...save it from what? The PS3 is doing it fine IMO, i think that the question should be, FF7 remake will gave PS3 the second place this gen?
On the other side, i dont want a FF7 remake yet, maybe a FF6 but a FF7 nah, it hink is still early for that.

EDIT: I don't think it would be on the VC. Probably too big, also square would probably charge it like it was a full game.
One thing I am wondering about is why do people amuse a FFVII remake would be only on the PS3. Final Fantasy VII was not an exclusive game it self.
i don't understand what this SAVING means? You make it sound like the system is gonna get canceled. Like there is some sort of deadline that if it doesn't reach a certain number by a certain date that Sony is going to pull the plug on the whole thing. Quit w/ these stupid posts. The Wii is here to stay, the 360 is here to stay, and the PS3 is here to stay. And guess what, all 3 companies will be around next gen too. Quit with the wishful thinking cause it screams of "fanboyism"
