Could Final Fantasy ever go back? (characters)

Must admit squal was cool ( despite being a bit of a d***) and I loved the gun blade, FF8 is so underated

I miss the old stuff, don't like that male characters look more like female characters in the "new" final fantasy's

I think thats a big part of it for me. When I look at Amanos art I keep thinking how awesome it would look fully realized on todays hardware. Besides the enemy sprites during battle in the 2d games, and some of his work in IX his art never really got to shine in game.

Sadly, Tetsuya Nomura rules Square now with an iron fist. Amano's art isn't appeciated enough.

All FF fans do is **** and moan for Amano to come back. :|

I really llike those, FF Type-0 looks awesome. But I still would rather the final fantasy's go more towards the "fantasy" side, I don't really like FF 13, 12, or 10's character style.

Well they do mix it up. FF XI and XIV got that more "fantasy" side. XII was more of that "fantasy" side too.

I really like the fantasy WWII likedesign in Type-0. That probably part of why I been pretty excited for Type-0 morethen any recent FF game and FFXIII-2.

The only Character design in X I disliked was Tidus's, XII's I only disliked was Vaan's,and FFXIII I hated Snow's design.

Those threee stick out as horribly character design fo me. Tidus looked like someone put a banana and a bunch of cloth into a blender and made Tidus wear it, Vaan looks like he want to be Fabio in the OP's pic, and is failing miserably, instead looking like one of those monkeys that bang cymbals together. and Show looks like he's having a hard time deciding whether he wants to be a jock or a hipster.

I don't get why people like the character designs of ff 9, I mean just the designs, not their personalities, or the world artstyle. I mean zidane? c'mon that's a footballer's name.. and he has a tail?? Freya, what's that a rat? and amarant, where's his face? the reasonable playable char for me is just steiner, vivi and garnet (eiko, not so much). too bad because they're all a great char with great personality. zidane should just look like this but without the tail

I sure do miss Amano's art style. I despise the "neo-futuristic j-pop weird art style" introduced with Final Fantasy VII.
