Could Halo 5 be the best game this gen has seen?

MCC was appetizers its like some cheese sticks or or french fries to dip your appetite into

Halo 5 is the main course its Filet Mignot, Alaskan King Crab, 60$ Lobster etc etc

this is the game of our generation imo its got multiplayer its got single player, its got name recognition its got brand loyalty

kids know Halo, they know the name they know Zelda, they know Mario

they don't know uncharted guy, they don't know who the char is in bloodborne or order 1886 I Dunno those people who are mr mustache, mr dark guy, mr indiana jones look alike

Halo 5 is the main course people are gonna go out to buy xb1 this christmas for this game NOBODYU cared the french fries from Halo MCC of course xb1 isn't selling so hot that wasn't even a main franchise game it was a bunch of old games bundled up

I know it will be one of my favorites. I think 343 has done a great job so far. The matchmaking on MCC may not be the best but overall MCC is a great game and I think Halo 4 is great also.

microsoft might hire bungie to work on a new halo though after halo 5 and destiny 2 they could do a new halo fps mmo game for xb1 if they want or something

I really hope that 343i nails the campaign. Halo 4's campaign was my favorite out of all of them so I have high hopes that 343i will top it.

Best game in the year? They'll have to really nail that campaign and bring back the joys of the multiplayer in order for that to happen.

I don't see any other game taking GOTY besides MGS5. I really like Halo, but it's not even a contest.

I mean, Halo 4's story was actually quite decent and the only department that Bungie had them beat was MP.

Destiny is a strange anomaly. It's not like it's terrible, but it's not quite what gamers were hoping for, either.

EDIT: The best companies give people things they didn't know they needed. Bungie and Blizzard are two prime examples in the gaming world. Both have had recent misfires (Destiny and the original Diablo 3 release -- which has since been updated and patched to be significantly more rewarding and entertaining).

I feel like this sort of thinking is what keeps the stale game train rolling.

I even have doubts that Halo 5 will be any good. This year really doesn't seem to be much better than any other, except for the fact that MGSV has GOTY on lock.

I really would like both games to be good though, but some fresh IPs would REALLY be appreciated.

What a terrible post once again, my god. I love Halo as a series but I'm not that excited about Halo 5. The series has lost its luster after recent entries and I highly doubt this will be "the game of the generation." Also, lots of people know who Nathan Drake is and Master Chief was around long before. Sweet food analogies though...

MGSV is going to throat **** Halo 5 so hard, master chief is gonna have half a week's meals running down Snakes legs.

I wasn't saying Bungie have suddenly become shit due to Destiny (a game i have many hours invested in, 3 lvl 30s before the first expac launched in fact). What i meant is that Destiny proved that Bungie weren't the perfect dev a lot of people believed them to be.

343i did a great job with Halo 4, i'm not really into multiplayer shooters anymore (was obsessed with Halo 2 MP back in the day :P) so i could easily overlook what a lot of people saw as the weakest part of Halo 4 and how it compared to Bungie's previous games. However with the SP portion i think they did a very adequate job and in some ways a better job than Bungie did.

I find it silly that ppl keep praising the Halo franchise like this when the ppl who made Halo what it is....no longer even makes Halo.

Despite the lack of variety in missions I did enjoy Halo 4's campaign.

I have high hopes for Halo 5 but I don't see it being in the running for GotY (I'd love to be wrong).

Considering that the game of last gen (TLOU) came a year before the gen ended, I'd say we can't possibly expect any game to be game of the gen this early.

Halo 5 will be awesome. But while Sony focusses on graphics and little else it wont be the best looking game. It will be one of the best overall games this gen though.

Cows at least tend to be a bit realistic with their hype. "Halo" is just a name now. All the hype that went into the franchise when people praised Bungie as god devs somehow is easily transferred to another dev who get's the SAME level of hype just because they use the "Halo" name lol, it's hilariously idiotic when you think about it.

Basically, if ANY dev was to use the Halo "name" and make it an xbox exclusive lems would hype it to the moon because...it's Halo.

Gotta love the insanity of lem hype when the years a Halo game (best game xbox has) did release they weren't even nominated for GOTY much less critically acclaimed compared to the best games that came out that same year, never mind the generation.
