Counter Strike creator: Half Life 3 is being in development

Counter-Strike creator and former Valve employee Minh "Gooseman" Le has let slip that both Half-Life 3and Left 4 Dead 3 are in development.

"I don't think I can talk about that, to be honest, but I think it's kind of public knowledge, that people know that it is being worked on," Le said of the long-fabled Half-Life 3, speaking on podcast goRGNtv. "I guess I could say that I did see something that looked kinda like in the Half-Life universe. And I mean it wouldn't surprise anyone if I said they're doing it, they're working on it, yeah. So to go on a limb I'd say I did see some concept art for Half-Life 3."

I'd be more excited for Left 4 Dead 3.

Anyhow, believe it when I see it.

My friends, Team Fortress 2 was in development pre-2000.

Being masters, Valve are well above the mediocre developers you like.

Half-Life 3 is destined to disappoint on so many levels. This is what will always happen when gamers hype something up to deity status.

Half Life 3 is like the Last Guardian, nothing more than vaporware now.

It kinda isn´t since HL3 never was announced.

Thought it was basically announced...

Nah,the only thing valve announced and hasn´t delivered so far is HL2 Ep3,wich considering everything different valve employees said for years now(including Gabe)is as good as cancelled.
But HL2 ep3 is a very different thing than HL3.

5 years ago I may have cared, and I may care again if info is released and it's impressive, but for now, I don't have much interest. I'd rather have team fortress 3 or l4d3.

Well duh. Gaben himself has confirmed that both the Source 2 engine and Half-Life 3 are in development. It's not a secret. They are just building a brand new engine which has a huge focus on community driven content which is taking quite a long time to build properly. They are in no rush either as they basically print money with Steam.

We all know its being worked on . Gabe said back in 2012 that Recochet 2 (Half Life 3) full development have begun . Before that , they were prototyping .

Until Gabe , himself announces it with a teaser trailer/year of its release , I'm not getting hyped .

I never understood the hype and love for the series. But this is good news to those who like it.

I'll care when I can actually DL/buy the game off of steam, tell then don't care and this is all BS.

How funny would it be when they release the first teaser? Would be a special moment.

It never had a chance.

It's always been safe to assume that some amount of people have been working on various things related to HL3 at some point for some amount of time. That concept art he saw may be five years old or ten minutes. It might be one person doing art in their free time or it might be in full production with thousands of people on the team. Who knows. Nothing really matters until Valve hopefully finally decides what the hell to do with it and feel comfortable announcing its existence.

He does know that April fools was way over a month ago right?

Eh. As long as Valve opens up the levels a bit and provides satisfying gunplay and actually smart AI this time, the game will be great.

I felt like HL2 had so many stellar elements but got the basics wrong. If the basics were corrected, we'd have very close to a perfect FPS.

Would rather see a new 'Industry changer' real time engine and gameplay in motion like they did way back with Half Life 2.

It's gonna be awesome, I'm seriously looking forward to it.

Hopefully it will release on PC first so that Valve can screw the game up and tone it down for consoles, well, it's up to Valve but I wouldn't even think about releasing it on consoles.

Just out of curiosity, how come every console port valve makes is terrible? Counter Strike, Team Fortress, Half Life, and Portal and L4D to a lesser extent

I've gotten my hopes up too many times to believe this... Half-Life 3 will always be my most anticipated game but I'm sick of waiting!!!

People wanting Left for Dead 3 is the very reason why Half Life 3 isn't out yet. Two L4D games is more than enough, and we don't need a 3rd one. Valve's abilities are being squandered making games like L4D and Portal and fans just eat them up. If I were Valve, I'd do the same thing they're doing now - churn out L4D and Portal games since they are easier to develop, and easier to meet expectations. Why would you make a HL3 game with impossible expectations when you can make a L4D3 and people will be seemingly happy enough.
