Ok serious topic now and please don't just come in and say "sixaxis is increadible it's just the terrible developers". I just read the IGN review of Lair and I have to say...wow...not good...I think everyone can agree that Lair is/was a complete disaster for Sony.

If they had simply worked with the dual analog sticks from day 1 they probably would have spent more time working thru theother problemsin the game. In retrospect we are left with a game that has a broken control scheeme and glitches everywhere (reviewers comments not mine).

So I ask you Cows...do you wish that Sony had left out motion sensing on the PS3?

No. It can be used to do different stuff, an interesting input device, but they would have had a controller without motion or rumble otherwise so...

Developers are just not thinking interestingly enough. Ive seen several games where you have to use it, or can use it to control your vehicle, player etc, but thats not really innovative.

No. Lair wouldn't have been great without the sixaxis ..... it would have been reduced to having a reticle and basically been a star wars flight game but with a dragons even more than it already was.

The sixaxis really hasn't hurt anything else , only added little things or nice options. Folklore looks like it has a nice use ,some people love it in Warhawk , and Ratchet and Clank looks like it has some nice little uses as well as HS. I am sure Kojima will make some good uses out of it.

The only real downside I see is that when you start playing a game the PS3 controller might pop up on screen and show you how to use it for certain things for the first time and take you out of the action a for a second.

Lair, Great? :|

What about the 4.5?

Folklore demo was pretty fun with the SA stuff.

The problem is that it takes time and resources to create the motion controls which takes time from other parts of the game development. Every game starts out with a budget and a timeline developing motion controls eat away at both of those.

Again, I reckon using motion sensing for primary control is unimaginitive, unoriginal and so far costly. Its just a gimmick when used like that. Devs must know that people are obviously going to want to play with analogue. Motion should only be used for the little things, like mini-games/dodge games, or interactive cutscenes, or escape/struggle games etc. RE5 has the chance to show you but thats so far away it just isnt good enough and who knows if capcom will even use the feature

Mooooooooo.... I mean Nooooooo! The sixaxis is good... better with rumble. I like it as an added feture to enhance gameplay... but I not really sure I like to depend on it fully in a game.

Nah, I think it will be used well in the future. Devs just need to implement it properly.

I do wish they kept rumble in there though, but it does look like it's coming back soon.

According to EA it does. They were refearing to Wii games but they said that it costs them a small fortune to figure out the Wiimote controls and had increased the budgets on some of their games significantly and the truth is EA games suck (Can't find the link for that atm but I'll keep looking).

Granted that was on the Wii and the PS3 controls would probably be cheaper but it's still going to add to the bottom line. On a big budget game like Lair was they would have really spent a signicant amount of time and resouces trying to get them right.

I like the motion sensing, juste not who they use it. It should be used in some good time and not almost everywhere just to "show" the new gimmick. Resistance made a great use of it. Simple, but good use.

I'm a PS3 owner and I have to say motion sensing is pretty worthless so far.. It only seems to work averagely at best with racing games, putting it in any other genre is just pointless like for example putting it in a shooter, swing the six-axis to reload, what would be the point its just daft when you can press 1 button. It doesn't really add to the fun factor for me at all. I always switch it off when I'm playing motorstorm.

I wouldn't mind it honestly but they had to go and sacrifice rumble to put motion sensing crap in it, So yeah I honestly think they should of just left the damn thing out of it and gone with the banana controler. Screw the Six-Axis what a dumbass name.

Differance between Sony and Nintendo, When Nintendo Makes a Peripheral, Miyamoto Designs it with the IDea of Making Zelda/Mario/Metroid Etc etc with it, so Miyamoto can make a game and show developers how it's done. Sony makes a Periphral from Stan the Engineer guy in 5th floor, and no Devs had any input on it. but eventually someone comes along and uses the tech in an cool ingenious way, Example MGS1 Kojima actually Had a Rumble guy and man did it pay off, remember Pshyco Mantis with the Walking Controller? Exacally, guess we gotta wait for a 3rd party to redeifne the way to use a Six Axis. But i rather have it than Rumble. Rumbles old it's a Gimiick , If it's in the game good, if not i'm not gonna cry. The good thing about Six Axis is you don't have to use it the Controllers got enough buttons, But it's gonna be cool to see if they can really master it and see if Motion Becomes standard in Controllers.

Not really... IMHO... it doesn't hurt. It's like a GPS unit that comes with the car you purchased... You don't need it to drive... yet it may come in handy.

I always had the perception that Sony didn't "take" rumble out by choice, but this was a decision they were forced into because of legal reasons. Am I wrong in this thought?

I'm indifferent.

I'm pissed off that they kept fighting Immersion for such a lengthy period.

I could have had my rumble by now.

I'd better get it in a year and a half tops. *Crosses Teets*
