There is no secret wildcard Sony has up its sleeve.

There is no variable we dont understand, lurking beneath the surface, that Sony is deceptively obfuscating about the true nature of the PS5.

Sony does not possess some proprietary, super duper engineering prowess unique to them, that Microsoft does not have access to.

There is no secret, hidden factor that Sony is going to pull out of nowhere, that they are patiently biding their time, looking for the perfect moment to strike, and catch MS with their pants down. Blindsiding them. The SSD wont do it. The tempest chip wont do it. Sony's super duper first party wont do it.

What we've seen is what we are going to get. There is no Secret Sauce coming to save you.

I feel like Cows promoting this nonsense half-believe (though they'll never admit it out loud) that there is some kind of secret chip in the console.

yeah all that sophisticated technical speak that mark cerny spewed was just an elegant way of damage controlling for their underpowered console.

i would have thought sony learned their lesson with the Half-Assed PS4 Pro upgrade compared to the One X, but Nope, they didn't..

Yep, all you have to do is look no further than the Pro and that's what they're doing all over again. PS5 will probably sound like a jet engine once again.

I don't think OP's points lead to the conclusion OP is looking for.

The "we know nothing about the PS5" and "no variable we don't understand" narratives cannot coexist so, which one is it?

The fact is, there's a LOT of unknown's about the PS5. No, it doesn't mean there's some secret chip or some other nonsense like that but, it doesn't mean they don't have other things "up their sleeves". Both Microsoft and Sony have a ton of stuff to still talk about and unveil.

I think they're quiet for a number of reasons, one they weren't ready to show the new system and I believe the design hadn't been finalized, and second because of the pandemic makes holding a hype event more difficult. I think they themselves know they have a built in following with PS4, and that their fans will back them on Sony's first party record. Though having to contend with a power gap will be an obstacle, the rests are strengths that will help them. Waiting until June too, just weeks before their last two big exclusives hit the PS4, will help boost their overall buzz when they hype those games along with PS5.

But, I think it isn't so much playing chess that Sony has advantage on, they're just being cautious. Though MS had quite a bit of momentum with Series X hyping until recently, in contrast to how Sony has drip fed info on PS5, where very few Sony defenders dared to damage control after the boring spec reveal. Seemed there was still a quiet bias that couldn't help to trounce the closest thing to a misstep by Microsoft regarding the third party game showing not meeting their expectations. I think it's a sign MS will still need to proceed without any margin for error, the gaming press and Sony defenders will make a mountain out of a molehill if that happens. Sony gets a lot of free passes that MS doesn't have that benefit of, and they can play to it.

so you know every thing about the ps5 and how it runs? what buses are in it. what bottlenecks each system? you know how each system architecture inside? do you know what sony did to the gpu when they customized it for the ps5? sony took the gpu and modified it? so if you know that tell me?

the ssd is used for more than just loading same as the series x. but the ps 5 ssd is just better and much faster. if it wasn't why would the new ssd be sold to the public once this ps5 is out or when ever they do dell it to the public. if its not better than the one they use today in pc's?

Oh No! Xbox's next gen "gameplay" reveal was a trainwreck. Quick, drag Sony with speculation so no one notices!

So can you point to those who are claiming secret sauce?

Also why does sony needs a wildcard?

I haven't seen anyone say that the SSD will improve graphics. If you are talking about someone like me though, I have said that is the most exciting part of next gen gaming due to the fact that there will be less downtime on both consoles and devs will be able to push the boundaries a lot more without the need to have loading corridors, doors that take 45 seconds to open, more happening on screen at once, more enemies, less slowdown, and larger more complex worlds/level design.
