"several members of the Crackdown development team - including lead designer Billy Thomson - have formed a new development studio. And "may" be working on Crackdown 2."

But the Crackdown bit?

"Gamasutra only state that there are "unconfirmed reports" that the studio are working on it at the moment. Though it's certainly possible, what with the composition of this team, the fact they're not at Realtime (who developed Crackdown) working on APB and the fact Microsoft got awful coy the other day about the possibility of a second Crackdown."

Oh god, I hope this is true. I'd love another dose of Crackdown. :)

They only published the first one, i'm assuming they'll do the same for Crackdown 2 IF it ever happens. If they don't, it could go multi. But I never liked Crackdown so idc

I hope so. Crackdown is kind of an odd case for me, in that it's not one of my favorite games of this gen (I did like it though), but I'd love to see a sequel for it, to explore the unique style of the gameplay, and to come up with more great ideas. I'd definitely get it.

Crackdown was a good game, but it had minor flaws which stopped it from being a great game to me.

Now if only i could get every single collectable in it >.

Crackdown had a lot of potential. With some refining to the formula it could easily go AA/AAA.

Wha? How and why did this happen? And wouldn't Realtime Worlds own the IP rights for Crackdown? Oh right, guess they handed those over to Microsoft.

Nice. I liked Crackdown. It felt completely empty, but the idea was there. I hope they make a sequel to that (AND that Capcom makes a freaking Dead Rising 2 NOW).

I loved Crackdown...to be honest a main reason for me getting it was the Halo 3 Beta, but I ended up playing the game wayy more than that. The game is a blast...sometimes while playing GTAIV I'll get a little sad knowing I can't just jump over buildings.

Copy & pasted from my MS to break the bank thread. :)

Dec 8, 2008 11:21 am ET

ZOMG, if this should be announced outta the blue for a 2009 release I will be officially lol Floored and one happy pappy.

On the latest Major Nelsonpodcast, it appears that we may have gotten a hint that someone is working on the sequel to one of my favorite Xbox360 titles, Crackdown. Larry was talking to Phil Spencer, GM of Microsoft Game Studios and they had the following exchange:

Quote: "I'm here to tell you on behalf of the community, I want - we need - another Crackdown," Xbox Live's director of programming, Larry Hryb, told MGS boss Phil Spencer in the latest Major Nelson podcast.

"That's all I'm going to say, so you don't have to confirm for deny anything. I'm just saying we want it."

"Yes, Crackdown's one of my favourites," said Spencer. "I'll leave it at that."

What's going on at RTW? Where is APB?pins_basic

APB is a very ambitious MMO, and it needs a lot of time to develop. They showed it off earlier this year at one of the big expo's (GDC perhaps? Can't quite remember), but anyways, most of the sites named it as their favorite thing at the show, and the video's they posted looked amazing. The character creation is beyond anything we've seen thus far. And there's also a rumor that Rockstar's interested in APB...

That would be great, I loved the first Crackdown. Had hours of great fun, and one of the "Oh wow" moments this gen. I was on the second island on top of a fairly tall building fighting off a number of gang hit squads. They groupped their cars around one place, I blind throw a genade and next thing I know it was raining cars, four of them went over the building I was on.

I also love getting the achievements in that game.

It may of been overshadowed by the Halo 3 beta, but after playing the demo I would of gotten it without the beta. To me the Halo 3 Beta made Crackdown alot better, I had a game that gave me a ton of fun, and it got me into the Beta of Halo 3.
