Flop according to SW rules, but in the real spectrum of things, it isn't even close to being a flop. It will sell well over 1 million copies and every review so far has said they like the game (a 7 in most places is above average, but Crackdown is getting more 8s and 9s than 7s and I believe it hasn't got below a 7+ yet). Great sales + review praise = successful game IMO.
Flop - The only reason this game will sell is because Microsoft are forcing Lemmings to pay for a Beta, which they will in vast numbers. There may be a second phase of "beta" for Halo attached to the next below average game to force more sale...... They could keep this up till Halo 3 is released :D Imagine the sales.

I can't believe people are ignorant enough to call it a GTA rip off. It's created by the creator of GTA, how can he rip himself off? Plus it plays diffrent to GTA, the only similarity is that is a sandbox. As for whether it flopped... YES it did.

But in real life, its the only game on PS3 worth owning that is not on another system. It also sold very well for the amount of PS3s there are out. So it was a success.

From what I have seen, Resistance hasn't sold well either. Any way, review wise, the game isn't a flop outside of system wars. The sales argument is on going.

I have played the demo... And the game has only two things to do, race and shoot dudes. While GTA has tons of missions and variety in them, oh and GTA has a story. For me Crackdown flopped and its not based on GS' review.

I have played the demo... And the game has only two things to do, race and shoot dudes. While GTA has tons of missions and variety in them, oh and GTA has a story. For me Crackdown flopped and its not based on GS' review. This game was never hyped or made for its story line, everyone knew it has a weak storyline. What is unique about this game is the purity in the Sandbox, no limits, while in San Andreas, you only could go to one place before you did a mission to get to another, in this you can experiment, the world is yours to mold.

the whole FLOP thing is just a ridiculous fanboy hate tool. It just means a game didn't get the score it was hyped for. Has nothing to do with the game actually selling good or bad (although some insecure boys will be effected by it i guess)

CD simply flopped, alot of people hyped it AA, and I saw some AAA in there. It flopped, get over it and enjoy the game.

I have been waiting for this game since it was announced. I will be picking up my copy tomorrow, I never take games back and in my opinion the demo justifies me buying this game.

The only thing that it has in common with GTA is that it's an open world sanbox game and that you can jack cars and fight gangs. it's a really fun game....Â

Dude a flop is a flop regardless of how you see it. Whether it ranged from 7.0-7.9 it's still very much so a flop! I think you're taking "very much so" as a weighing factor to determine the score... Now hypothetically, if a big game for example Halo3 flopped, it would be a game worth defending and creating damage control for it. It wasn't a big deal until SOME people started arguing why it's not a flop. People should just accept it's a flop and let this thread die already. If anyone likes CD that's fine... but don't try to say it's not a flop when the majority thinks otherwise...

nah it's in no way as big as the zelda incident. zelda was huge... I myself thought it would score AAA for sure and it flopped and I never denied it once. Is it a great game... in my opinion very much so, it depends on the gamer. I thought crackdown would get AA, yet it flopped scoring an A. Is it a great game?... in my opinion no...again, it depends on the gamer.Â
