Here's my rant. Need to get it off my chest. I bought devil may cry 4 for my 360. I eagerly opened the package to play the game. Turned on the 360 and got red rings of death. called Microsoft and got the coffin in the mail. sent it out. waited patiently to get it back so I could play my Devil May Cry game.

got my 360 back yesterday. Was working so I tried it first thing this morning. It plays my live arcade games off the hard drive. All is good. Lets play some Devil May Cry. Wait! the CD tray wont open. back on the phone to Microsoft. try this, try that. wait for another coffin in the mail.

Did they test the thing before they sent it back? doubt it.

Microsoft. Save some money on shipping and mail me a post card that states "BUY A PS3" because that's what I'm doing today!

it is time anyway to throw away 360, because M$ will do the same as they did with the original xBox, as soon as the 360 launched they stopped everything for the xbox... they have no commitement = they cant be trusted.

as soon as they will launch theire next gen console, they will forget about the 360 and all the people that own a 360, cause they want them on the newer one... (compare ps2 and xbox life span)

So many people don't realize that the only way M$ has made it's money over the years is release an OS that was really never finished and then after a while release another OS to fix the previous OS. M$ has never really fixed a problem, instead they just release another product to take the place of the previous product.

haha make sure you do for the PS3 what you should have done for the 360: get a product replacement plan. any time i buy any system i shell out 40 bucks at best buy and no matter how many RROD i get in those two years they will give me a BRAND NEW console.

You should allways get this because it's almost allways worth it. Saves time and insures you get a brand new one instead of refurbished.

Reason I say that for the PS3 is that I have a friend who works at a Gamestop who has been seeing many PS3's brought in recently that had burned out. The thing is hot as an oven with the power supply inside. Think about it. If sound is not getting out you better believe heat is staying in there too....

I know RROD sucks but this is kinda your fault 'cause after PS2 I learned that you should allways get a PRP no matter what. Anyways the same **** could happen with your PS3, only your gonna be kicking yourself when Gears 2 or NG2 comes out to name a few.

WOW, people actually comparing the RROD to DRE....its like night and day FFS, MS need to seriously fix the MAJORproblem.

Th eonly reason why ps2 was supported after the end of last gen is because it was making a profit! Sony would have done exactly the same as microsoft if the ps2 wasn't still selling. Sony hardly did anything anyway, it was the game developers making games for it because they still SOLD...and backwards compatability????!! - Sony ditched the ps3's backwards compatibility for the whole of europe..probz their biggest mistake.

I can understand your frustration. Hell, anybody would be just slightly upset in that kind of a situation. Despite the hardware issues with the 360 though, nobody can deny that it has a very impressive library, with quite a bit more ass kickage on the horizon for our gaming pleasure. Games that I personally, cannot and will not miss....hardware worries aside. And I know I am far from alone in that regard.

Personally, I have only had the RRoD only 1 time, and had absolutely no issues with Microsoft's service department. They treated me great, and so far so good with the refurb I got back. Bottom line, not every 360 owner is going to have issues that extreme and frequent. Even though it is well beyond an established fact that there is a design flaw with the 360.

So, you are right in saying that there is no excuse for releasing shoddy hardware, and Microsoft should be held accountable....no question. However, you obviously bought a 360 because you dig the games that are being released for it, no? So you might as well make the best of it and have it repaired for free while the service is still available, so you can still get to enjoy all of the titles that you obviously want to play, or you would have never bought a 360 in the first place. Don't just say "the hell with it" and miss out on some truly great games, man. Come on now.:|

I am piss at my 360 now, my first on got the RROD in november got a refurb about 2 1/2 weeks later not bad turn around. So its April now 5 months with the refurb it's not reading my games playes everything else but xbox and 360 games. I call MS they say I'm out of warranty cost $100 to get the problem fixed. I'm pissed cause this is a refurb and the original console I sent in did not have this problem and I feel like they should fix it for free, but now I am trying to kill my 360 and get another RROD so I can send it in and get another refurbished one. I will tell you the 360 will not die it's been on for like 12 hours sitting on a heating pad thrown in the freezer, shaken, knocked around a bit and will not RROD WTF crazy my coffin will be here soon either today or tommorrow crosses fingers

Oh but i forgot to add I still love my 360 and would not want to play anything else I am hooked as soon as I get this problem fized i am going to sell this 360 and get an Elite at best buy with a PRP

nothing can beat LIVE all you PS3 that say PSN is good and free blah blah, paying for something will never beat free it's only like $4.20 a month not a big deal

But it is all swings and round abouts. RROD IS AN ISSUE.

Not everyone suffers from it, but many many have and MS should have found ways to fix the new hardware that goes out on the shelf.

But as people have pointed out, they have done everything they can to be good about it, warranty extended, free of charge.

My mate got screwed over on his PS2 - they are very bad for scrathing disks if on their side and this was the console that kinda launched the verticle thing! anyway, my mate had his verticle, scrathed the disks and fooked the ps2 - sony told him to buy a new one!
