Oddworld had some creepy moments but they were few and far between. I'm speaking of the series as a whole I couldn't really point out one particuliar thing.

Meeting the Flood (unexpectedly) for the first time on Halo 1 was creepy. It they came from nowhere. Max Payne also had some pretty disturbing moments too.

Good point about the Flood. They were pretty shocking and unexpected. I was trying to think of something like that.

Only games that have remotely scared me (though one is definitely a horror and another could be argued) are Halo when I was younger, RE4, and Bioshock.

Morrowind. Walking around, talking to people, the red sandstorms, the slavery, the desolation, it creeped me all out. The atmosphere is very suffocating.

Nah, I liked the Sniper. Maybe it was because I felt stronger than an old man.

The Fear (the spider dude) also gave me some shivers. I guess I just hate spiders and people who walk like them.

Metroid Prime Series, and Star Wars: Republic Commando. The way that the HUD wraps around the screen makes the game much more immersive, and gives you a feeling of claustrophobia.

Is there a Wizard of Oz game? Cause that would probably be it since the movie is the most disturbing movie ever.

System Shock 2. The developers weren't going for a horror based game when they made it, but when I played it all those years ago I had chills down my spine.

Indeed, many parts of Portal were creepy because you didn't know whether to laugh or be scared. Especially the shrine to the Companion Cube.

I also found parts of the Half-Life series quite creepy, such as the giant fish boss in HL1, and the way the zombies scream in HL2. It sounds like they're still alive under the headcrabs and they know what's going on.

Parts of Deus Ex, specifically when robots and/or MiB's appear...there is one part with a garage (at the shipyards) and I didn't bother to read the sign on it, and I opened it, and a gigundus robot marched out and promptly killed me. I just about pooped myself.

- Half-Life 2, "We Don't go to Ravenholm". Episode 1's opening was prettyfreaky too in the basement parking lots.
- Metroid Prime, when you gained the Thermal visor and the Space Pirats silently took over the room you were in, then that enemy that blasted you to pieces in no time when you wanted to exit the room.
- Bioshock, it's amazingly freaky just listening to those Splicers conversations, then they suddenly know you are there and either start screaming or give you a surprise attack.

Can't think of more right now. :P

Far-Cry when you first meet the Trigen in the treehouse level, God did I ever love that part, just being up top safe away from it all with the mariens fighting the Trigen down in the forest, and you couldent see the fighting because of all the trees, but you could hear them screaming and guns going off. It was epic.
