That is the reason for Sony to have PSN plus. It takes money to buy all the servers and to maintain them. All the people that have said XBL is a ripoff should know that it costs money to buy servers for cross-game chat and to keep them running.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
And the moral of this thread is to not pay for PSN plus and XBL at the same time.
*Waits for KevinButlerVP to rip XBL*
They are?I find it really funny that PS3 fanboys said they are going to get Cross-game chat for free. I guess not.

How is cross game chat such a... feature or service at all? Is being able to talk to someone who's playing Army of 2 2 while you're playing Tekken 6 that popular? Why would anyone even need this ridiculous "feature"? To tell the person playing Tekken 6 you just reached another checkpoint? Ridiculous.stiggy321

They are?Really when? Not for free I bet.
I never seen fanboys say anything like that. Ever since Sony said they were thinking about having a premium PSN service last year everyone asume cross game chat was coming but then they confirm that PSN+ was not getting cross game chatI'm still of the way of thinking that very, very few people give a damn about this feature and its just used for bragging rights among fanboys.tomarlyn
I think it's kind of useful sometimes. Can you live without it yes but is it a good feature to have you bet.

I don't believe Steam has Cross-game chat. ;)
Ah but it does :D! Talking with someone on it at this very moment.
I can't believe people are downplaying Cros game chat. It's an essential, and to be honest very basic feature.
I use it each and everytime i use my Xbox. Maybe I don't want to play Gears Of War but would like to talk to a party of my friends, maybe I want to have a quick chat with a friend whilst i watch some Live TV on the Sky Player.
How the PS3 does not have this feature blows my mind. It's so simple ...
[QUOTE="xhawk27"]
[QUOTE="clyde46"] lol wut? clyde46
Can you still voice chat in different games?
Yea :|I believe there is also group chat, haven't tried it out myself yet so I'm not 100% sure.
Yea :|[QUOTE="clyde46"]

I don't think so. How can you still use voice in the game you are currently playing on steam.
Hurr hurr, Try actually researching your baseless claims. Also, I can use Vent, Skype, Teamspeak, MSN. A collection of VoIP programs.[QUOTE="xhawk27"][QUOTE="clyde46"] Yea :|

Hurr hurr, Try actually researching your baseless claims.I use Steam all the time. I think I know a little about it. You can't use voice in L4D 2 and someone else is on another game and still talk in those games.

Hit alt-tab and it'll bring up this. Then click on view friend and pick a friend you wish to talk to and hit start voice chat.
Alt+tab then you're cross game chatting. Far easier than XBL.XBL is a lot easier to use for cross-game chat.

Nor can you do that on Xbox live, unless they've changed that since I've stopped using it.

Cross game chat hurt the xbox more than helped it imo. I dont really want to talk to online people while im trying to play a different game... its just distracting.
And it turned online games into ghost towns where nobody talks anymore in game because everyone is off in some private chat. I miss the days when the people i were talking to were actually in the same game as me.
PSN is lucky to not have it.
