Engines don't really determine whether a game has good graphics, there are probably a hundred other factors involved. I thought this was obvious by now, given how we've seen spectacular-looking games and crappy-looking games with UE3...

Its becaue is a bad console engine. (RUns great on PC though).

Hmm, hard to tell...
Has Valve actually done anything graphically significant since Source?
Not saying that Valve is'nt a quality entity but it has'nt shown anything nearly as graphically capable as Crytek that I can think of.
My point being:
The current gfx world champion vs Valve which sort of has to reprove itself. I honestly don't know.

Woah, wait nope you are totally correct.
Holy hell it runs on unreal 2.5 (same as previous Irrational games i.e SWAT4), with Unreal 3 features implemented.
Wow.... just wow.

I'm not expecting Source 2 to beat CryEngine 2, Valve builds games based on hardware install base via Steam hardware survey. They make their stuff to look the best it can without alienating people with decent but not high end hardware.
It will however easily exceed what we have seen from the console optimized CryEngine 3, I have no doubt about that.
didn't this thread just happen? have i gone back in time?
anyway if cryengine 3 is just console exclusive, and doesn't improve upon the cryengine 2 for pc's then source 2 would win.
edit: lol it diverted me to the second page, so i thought it was a new thread, i guess i need to get used to these multi page threads.
