Anyways, "great" score for a "great" game.

Of course, people in System wars don't bad mouth games they haven't played.
It's getting really widely spread scores here in Europe...from 4.0s to 9.0s. It really is love/hate game. Plenty of people aproach it as FPS and as such it's pretty meh, the combat can be clunky, the engine is unoptimised and the game has it's share of problems. On the other hand if you aproach it more like a survival horror game (which it really is, proving you can bring this genre to modern gameplay realities) then it's great, incredibly atmospheric, unique and with great storyline. But it really depends on a player. I personaly loved it.
And damn..the storytelling and writting in this game is spectacular

I'm torn between picking this up and not. I really enjoy survival horror type gamea and games that have a freaky sort of atmosphere but I'm kind of worried about the scores being all over the place.

The game is really great, reminds me of Bioshock but a bit slower paced. I liked the setting as well.
Good score, was kinda expecting 4 or 5, looks kinda like Bioshock which I wasn't a fan of, might pick it up from a discount bin someday tho.mr_mozillaHonestly, the gameplay is much better than Bioshock. For one, it's actually a pretty hard game. Two, it's not 'Let's do the electric wrench' rinse and repeat.

God im drunk yeah you sold it to me now nice.
Really? I didnt think of Bioshock at all. From the moment I saw it's debut trailer, I thought it resembled Bioshock. Except it was creepier by ten-fold, and made by Russian devs (who have a record of absolutely nailing atmosphere). Sounds like a win to me.

I thought more along the lines of Penumbrea and Cold Fear.

As has been said it's not really an FPS, people have been aprouching this game the wrong way. It's survival, mystery ans storytelling rather than guns a blazing. I thought the Story coupled with the atmosphere and flashbacks is some of the best survival type horror seen in years. No RE5 style bloodbaths here, just you, an abandoned ship, the sound of the wind and one hell of allot of ice.omfg wow no one in this damn thread knows Cryostasis is a physX game? its isnt unoptimised, its made for either nvidia CUDA cards or physX card users, so ATI folks like me have to stick at 20 fps 90% of the timeIt's getting really widely spread scores here in Europe...from 4.0s to 9.0s. The game is pretty good, I`ve been through about 1/4 of it by now. Those performance issues are really annoying.

Got it for 15quid the other day, sweet game. Its good because if quite different to the norm when it comes to FPS games.
Only issue is it runs like ass on my rig, but it does look very good, the ice melting is pretty special.
Id recommend it to anyone who wants something abit "different" like Stalker.
You see that's why im kind of designed to love this gave, some awesome things are coming out if eastern Europe, both STALKER and Cryostasis have this post soviet grubbiness and decay about them which works so well.Got it for 15quid the other day, sweet game. I've seen the gameplay. I won't be buying it. I know a lot of people here will enjoy it, however. If they liked Bioshock that is (i hated it).clembo1990
The gameplay is nothing like Bioshock, i don't see why everyone keeps comparing them.
Cryostasis is quite slow, more like an adventure game while Bioshock was just a normal FPS with magic :D

I mean theres more to it than mindless action. Unfortunately I have other outlets for a deeper story-driven experience than vidya games.i picked it up in the 2 for £25 section in GAME [you know, the section no-one ever bothers with] along with limited edition The Longest journey box set [also amazing].
only £15 on its own [assuming you can find it anywhere] and so far im loving it, not very far into it tho, but then i did only buy it yesterday. the pacing and atmosphere is just amazing and the water effects are purely epic, just dont go into it expecting a full blown action-shooter and you'll love it
I see that section, but there are rarely games there that are worth the plunge.i picked it up in the 2 for £25 section in GAME [you know, the section no-one ever bothers with] dreamachine

I see that section, but there are rarely games there that are worth the plunge. annoyingly i picked the game up at full price and 2 weeks later it was on the deal. if i waited i would have got cryostasis and necrovision for £25,Please Log In to post.
