I thought the 2 consoles couldn't handle Crysis. Maybe that was just a hermit argument.Michael324

They couldn't. You don't see the first Crysis (or Warhead) coming to consoles, do you?

WE have no idea what kind of compromises Crytek might make, or they might even have a seperate version for consoles. Too early to say.

we haven't seen what the console versions are going to be like, two different teams are working on each version so i can see the console version being pretty damn gimped to say the least. hopefully the other team do a good job of the pc version if they don't that would be a joke to mankind.

This. It took some PC to run Crysis at high quality and I highly doubt that the 360 especially could of handled it.

Not only that, but Crysis and Crysis 2 run on two different engines. Crysis runs on Cryengine 2 and Crysis 2 is on Cryengine 3. Cryengine 3 was made basically because Cryengine 2 was to powerful for consoles and Crytek wants to make games for consoles also. With Cryengine 2, they can't really do that, so they decided to make s watered down version of Cryengine 2 and call it Cryengine 3.

I wouldn't say watered-down. The engine is just as capable as 2, it just scales better to lower hardware.

Because it's on a new Engine.

And I'll be buying it for 360 because I'm curious on how well it performs.

Yet again people have failed to recognise the argument being put forward.

The argument wasn't Crysis couldn't be done on consoles, the argument was Crysis couldn't be done on consoles "in its current form". There is a big difference, if you rip everything out of a game that was only possible on PC then sure; it will run on consoloes, but that isn't running it in its current form is it?

Have you seen the CryEngine 3 videos? Those scream of streaming to me, distanced objects are none existent.

1. Old news. 2. Let's wait and see how it turns out - don't expect the same visuals.

Crysis 2 on the consoles will be a dumbed down experience. Thinking otherwise would be ridiculous.

You cannot fit 1GB+ of information into 256mb ram at any one time, it has to be cut up and streamed into memory as chunks.

Crysis's game play is dependant on a open environment, the whole area readily accessible in memory, therefore a console optimized version is guaranteed to have scaled down game play.

You don't need a crystal ball to figure that out.

I'm guessing you missed the videos of the engine running on the PS3? If you did, then you must be embarrassed right about now.

How exactly is the engine watered-down? It's capable of all of the same effects that the 2nd one could pull off on higher-end PC hardware.
