Crysis 2 to get the 3D treatment on PS3! (link inside)

We have some exciting news for PS3 owners now, as Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli confirmed in a recent interview that Crysis 2 will be the first major game for PS3 with support for 3D technology.

As reported from Playstation Life****/a>, the news has come via USA Today, who were also responsible for leaking a collection of Microsoft's Project Natal (Kinect) titles.

Now this is interesting....

I bet they are going to have to make some compromises such as lower resolution in order to do that :P

Good for those who bought a 3D ready TV I guess.

Curious how that will be implemented. For 3d you effectively need to double your FPS, so either only very few, select parts (like cutscenes) will be 3d or the game will have a drastic graphics downgrade (and no cows, the PS3 isnt powerful enough to magically have it all).

They should be able to get the game to run smoothly on 1080p first and then drop it to 720 or anything lower when running 3d mode.

Last time i checked, 3d means that they have to lower the graphics quality on consoles for better fps. If thats true, then we got a major problem. I would rather better graphics over 3d anytime.dakan45

Not sure why they only mention the PS3. The source says all three versions of Crysis 2 will have 3D.

last time i checked racing games were a legitmate genre.Nothing like going yeah its all good but its that genre just as a foolsh attempt to say that some games dont run that.Fact of the matter is they do regardless of genre its pretty impressive gettng a game running that res natively on a PS3 regardless of its genre.

PC can run any game in 3D that has a 3D engine (meaning not 2D games like CivIII or Solitare, duh). Heck, I got 3D glasses way back in 2002 when I bought my PNY GeForce 4 Ti4400.
