Well... I am back (wanna know why I was gone in the first place... well... check my newly formed blog out...) and I thought I would start with a bang.

Ok. Lemmings and Cows have been crying failure on Crysis' sales, when in reality, it is doing fantastic worldwide.

Ok. Exhibit #1:

http://www.n4g.com/News-81964.aspx

This is now well known new around here but this will factor in to proving Crysis' worldwide success.

Now... for the main attraction...

Exhibit #2:

http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2007/12/08/top-5-game-sales-per-system-worldwide-in-week-49-2007.htm

Last week's sales ranking for various platforms. Crysis ranked as follows on the PC.

North America: 4. Crysis (EA Games)

Japan: 5. Crysis (EA Games).

Europe: 2. Crysis (EA Games)

Pretty good honestly. Thing is, the Witcher didn't break any of those lists. Anyway, yes, I know what you are thinking, "Well, that was after they announced 1 million sold worldwide." Well... to that I have this to say... This was no isolated incident.

The previous week.

http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2007/11/30/top-5-game-sales-per-system-worldwide-in-week-48-2007.htm

North America: 3. Crysis (EA Games)

Japan: 2. Crysis (EA Games)

Europe: 3. Crysis (EA Games)

The Witcher did not break the top 5 that week either...

And how about the week before(Actually... 2 weeks before... Week 47 seems to be missing..)?

http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2007/11/17/top-5-game-sales-per-system-worldwide-in-week-46-2007.htm

North America: 2. Crysis (EA Games)

Japan: Crysis was not out in Japan yet...

Europe: 1. Crysis (EA Games)

That was the week Crysis came out, and literally the DAY after it was released in Europe. That is right, 1 day and it got to #1.

Anyway, The Witcher isn't in the top 5 here either...

The week Crysis wasn't out yet....

http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2007/11/10/top-5-game-sales-per-system-worldwide-in-week-45-2007.htm

The Witcher finally gets a #4 in Europe position... One week...

That was The Witcher's second week out in Europe.

Unfortunately... Week 44 isn't there either...

Oh well... I can still prove my point...

Now, a question for everyone. How does a game that sold about 900K in Europe never break to top 5 on the European charts except for 1 week(maybe 2... depends on how Week 44 was...)? Here is how, all the other games sold better than it. Now, if a game was in the top 5 for 4 straight weeks, how well do you think it did? I rest my case...

This is just for anyone doubting Crysis' sales over in Europe and even around the world. What is hilarious is, since it came out in Japan, it is one of the best selling games there. JAPAN. A country that hates FPS's....

Thank you. And good to be back.

PC sales are always a mystery because Europe is one of the largest PC software regions and never has real numbers to report. Combine it with digital downloads, and it gets muddier. The only way you'll know is when the publisher/developer comes out and waves the victory flag.

Last time i checked, only lemmings say that excuse due to abysmal sales of the 360 in Japan, and to an extent, Europe.

wait..wait....back up there TC. japan has a PC gaming market? huh? i know south korea certainly has but japan? i thought PC gaming over there went a long long time ago (ie it makes the 360 look like the DS over there kinda dead).

wow....nice to know theres at least some japanese gamers on PC.

as for crysis, well EA seem to have no complaints about its performance. its a great game and diserves much success. the full PC market is nigh on impossible to determin though since theres noone tracking it.

Console fanboys don't realize that the U.S. isn't the PC's biggest market, and that PC games generally sell for a long period of time while console games fall off after a couple of months.

Well, you can add another sale of Crysis to the US sales charts. I bought it this afternoon.

And I'd like to add that the game is freaking amazing (Delta). I love the way the N.Koreans are baffled as I slowly take them out one by one using the suit. It is so awesome. They react very realistically.

Alsoitruns great at 1680x1050 on High. The best looking game to date. And I haven't heard anyone mention the sound. Absolutely fantastic sounding weapons.

Some whine that it is all about graphics. The gameplay is dense(meaning complex which is a good thing) and the firefights are fantastic.

My only complaint so far is that the nimbies in the boats can spot and pick you off from pretty far away.

Other than that Crysis has definately lived up to the hype.

I can see how some people feel that it is a direct derivative from Far Cry. It is as though Crytek used Far Cry as a learning curve for the creation of Crysis. Far Cry was great. Crysis takes all that is good from Far Cry and makes the gaming experience even better.

This is a great game!

Your sources are pretty weak. N4g says that the developer said it has broke 1 million sold. I hear lots of crap about sales from developers in the media all the time. Do you expect people to believe the developer?

Regarding your other sources, all of them link back to Amazon sales rank based on demand. If the no. 1 game sold 500,000, the no. 2 game could have sold as little as 80,000. There are no sales numbers........... just ranking. Hardly credible when considering one website against the entire Retail chains in the world.

I'm sure Crysis, The Witcher etc. will do fine in terms of sales and we will see more games like those so don't fret.

CD Projeckt has NO reason to lie... They are a new developer from East Europe. They didn't expect their game to break 100K let alone 1 million... There is no doubt their words are true.

As for the other point, do you HONESTLY believe there is such a gap between two places on their charts? HONESTLY? Specifically when another game sold most of its 1 million copies sold in Europe in a SINGLE MONTH? That makes no sense at all...

I do agree that Crysis, The Witcher, etc all do sell very well and we will see sequels. Anyway, Crytek already essentially confirmed good sales in the world market by announcing Crysis 2 officially. Crytek said before release that they would only announce Crysis 2 if Crysis was a financial success.. Well, after 1 week, they seemed pleased enough to make that announcement. Seeing as how it was #1 in Europe a day after release, I think you can see further correlation.

I am just saying playing this on low or even medium isn't great. You should play this game on High settings at 1240X1080.

That is the reason I haven't played Crysis yet. Saving up for a new PC next year.

So they are a new developer... that means they can't lie?? Developers put the spin on everything. Developer comments are argued in System Wars all the time. Its nothing new.

Did you only read half of my post? They have no reason to lie... They only expected 100K sales... The fact that it SHATTERED thatis stunning. Even if they were to exagerate a bit, do you honestly think they would go very far beyond maybe saying 200K in the first month if 1 million wasn't true? This is a time where there is NO reason for them to lie. They would gain NOTHING from lying AT ALL. Not a thing...

These gaps do exist. Take a look at last month's NPD data between the no. 1 game COD 4 vs the no. 2 game Mario Galaxy... a difference of 450,000.

Again, you ignore a piece of the info... If the Witcher broke 1 million but never passed #4, what do you assume a game that held higher slots for the next month did? People are SEVERELY underestimating the size of the European market. The fact that there are over 12 PC Gaming magazines based in Germany, several of which are best selling magazines shows the size of that market... Considering console gaming hardly exists inEurope(Germany in particular)with any consistancy yet they are arguably the one of the largest gaming markets in the world (people seem to forget GC is based in Germany and it is quickly becoming the largest games convention in the world.). Many developers and publishers are beginning to see the size and potential market in the European gaming scene. Ubisoft is attempting to break into the market more with Far Cry 2, because Far Cry sold very well in Europe as well. Ubisoft is now focusing their attention on countries like Russia(they recent showed off Far Cry 2 in Russia), Germany, Turkey, and the rest of Europe. Considering Far Cry 2 is their highest budget game currently in development, them essentially ignoring the US market right now shows something. Europe is the market that matters. Thats why all the console developers are so eager to try to get into the European market. Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, all of them are trying DESPERATELY to touch that huge market. Thing is, right now, it is dominated by the PC and hardware suppliers can give extremely competative prices there. It is going to take a very compelling deal to shift that market.

Looking forward to playing Crysis when it comes out on the consoles.

Thoroughly enjoying Halflife 2 at the moment on my 360... these PC games are great and even better when you don't have to mess around with a PC to play it :)

It will never come to consoles in its current form.

Current gen consoles are far to low spec to run the game.

As for HL2, well the console version misses out on a HUGE portion of the PC experience - user made content and steam - but still its great none the less.

Currently enjoying Gears of War on my PC in its far better form and I don't have to mess around with that disfunctional gamepad crap.

Oh wait. *looks at his X360 gamepad hooked into PC* I actually can. But I wont.

It sounded like a disappointment, as did Hellgate.

I'm more excited for Far Cry 2.
