The A.I. in Crysis is second to none. The open ended, destructable enviroments make the A.I. in the game shine. They always flank, they always work as a team. They run and retreat, regroup, attack with numbers and with stratagy. The player needs to fight this relentless A.I.

wrong on so many levels....you know what game crysis is the succesor too?

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/farcry/index.html?tag=result;title;0

and according to every preview...like in Farcry...the AI is some of the best out there....and untile you can find a FPS that does open-ended non-linnear gameplay to the same extent crysis those...its in no way generic at all...

plz tell me...What features those Halo 3 have that crysis doesnt? Forge? Crysis has its own level editor...and its far more powerfull then forge.

This. Why do people always aurgue that the game play will suck? All the game play videos released over the year has shown any evidence of the game play lacking. Go watch some it seems like you haven't seen any. You dont need a $1400 dollar computer just to play it, for that price you could max out the game tho.

I wouldn't mind if there is a setting that the computer can play for you. If thats the case then I would be happy just to watch it with popcorn ready.

i'm sure the crysis map editor allows you to do more with the map - but the halo 3 map editor is guaranteed much easier and alot funner to use (espicially with the allowing players to be in the map while editing it)

as for the A.I - that's soley applying to the single player . The majority of fps i play (the good ones) i play soley for the multiplayer . I've seen the crysis multiplayer videos - and it does look very generic.

play the beta, its not generic... Maybe the DEATHMATCH Mode looks generic but thats because it is..... Power Struggle is seriously the absolute best MP experience I have ever had outside of maybe TF:C and TF2...

Not many games out there have a nano suit, weapons customization on the go, objectives that allow you to upgrade technology, etc in MP. Sandbox editor 2 will be a lot more fun because you can do more stuff it is as simple as that.

The Crysis beta owns. The only thing that matches it right now is the equally excellent TF2.

even though i wont be getting crysis (pc wont run it), people should wait till the game comes about before they start bashing it. This also applies to all future games taht r coming out, yet people constantly bash them

Correct, you like Blurry boring generic street shooters, I like complex large team based games with same "awe" value.

Both Team Fortress 2 & Quake Wars SLAUGHTER CoD4 online... CoD1 was the only OUTSTANDING CoD... there rest are "meh".

read up on power struggle

Most of Crysis' MP media coverage has been focused on Crytek's twist on a typical FPS' Capture The Flag (CTF) mode in a very notable gameplay mode titled Power Struggle.

In Power Struggle you'll start the game as a primitive grunt - either US or Korean. Both teams will have a different nano-suit-design. You'll be given just the very basics including basic armor and a pistol. As you make kills and achieve other goals (like securing capture points), you'll earn credits which can be used to obtain bigger and better things. Your headquarters will be armed with automated missiles and turrets - effectively eliminating base campers altogether. Your headquarters may be an offshore submarine or inland base.

You'll have access to two types of suits

1) The Prototype suit - You'll have this at the beginning. This will give you very basic armour and strength capabilities 2) The Production Nano suit - You'll have access to this once you've got enough credits. This will enable more advance armour and strength and also allow some degree of cloaking. This will require a high level of credits to obtain.

Crysis multiplayer will provide a wide variety of different vehicles and machines including: (but not limited to)

Water based

- Patrol Boats - Speedboats - Submarines

Land based

- Trucks - Jeeps - HUMVEE - Tanks

Air

- Attack Helicopters - VTOL Jets

Such vehicles and machines just don't just spawn - your side will have to take control of certain capture zones in order to be able to manufacture them. The capture zones won't be just markers on a map - rather they will be factories, ports, motorworks etc. For example, capturing a port will enable the production of water based vehicles. Capturing a zone will involve simply standing in a specific room for a small amount of time. You'll gain credits for this also.

Once your team captures a zone, it doesn't just start manufacturing the goods. It provides the means to manufacturer but you first must of all order your desired machine or vehicle through your PDA and have a certain number of credits available. Your PDA will provide you with a key code so that no one else can take what you've ordered. You will have the opportunity to give your order to another team member, also.

While you can have multiple vehicles/machines you can only manage one at a time. The others can be locked in a somewhat secure area. They won't be completely safe though as the enemy can pick your locks and steal your equipment. Also, if for any reason you leave your vehicle and the enemy is snooping around they can jump in and claim it as theirs.

Throughout the game your rank will change as you gain more credits. The higher rank you have the more toys you'll have access to.

Getting the right balance is perhaps the most pertinent issue. While new players may think it's grossly unfair that all they will have is a single pistol to compete with other players with some serious firepower it won't quite be like this. Firstly new players will be able to steal others machines/vehicles. Secondly, those players with higher ranks won't be after the new players as they will have very little to gain from killing them and more so be jeopardizing their entire team. Players with high ranks will get the greatest benefit from killing opponents with a higher rank level. Based on this it's likely that you'll be fighting others with a similar rank.

Crysis Multiplayer brings a whole new level of realism. If your aircraft runs out of bombs, you won't be able to simply fly over the runway to reload. You'll have to land and retrieve them yourself. If your tank gets damaged you'll have to use a welders touch to patch it up.

Perhaps the most stirring part of Crysis Multiplayer is the alien aspect that will be incorporated. Each map will have one to five alien crash sites that will be in randomly generated areas. After infiltrating one of these you'll have to locate the alien core. Bringing this back to one of your capture zones will allow you to reverse engineer the alien technology for use in existing human technology. For example you'll able to convert a standard tank into a Molecular Accelerator tank that fires deadly ice pieces. It won't be at all easy to bring the core to a captured point. Once you've got the core, every player - both allied and opponent will know you've got it and will probably be after you. Therefore you're going to need good teamwork to fend off any threat and protect you.

As you gain more alien cores and take them to each capture point, your team will gradually take control of the game. There are several ways to win the game, but the most notable is to produce a tank with a tactical nuke and destroy the enemy HQ with one shot. Again, all players will be notified of its existence and it will be up to each team to attack/defend the tank.

One more unique factor is the time of each game. Depending on the servers settings, a game could last as long as ten real hours! (Keyword: Could) With the dynamic day/night cycles in Crysis, it's possible that you could be playing on the same map during the day and under the stars!

Power Struggle

Despite the fun "sounding" gametypes - posted above , the thing is getting them to work . You would rely on your team a ton , call of duty 4 is great because one guy can make a huge difference. The maps , gametypes , and shooting is tuned to perfection . The maps in call of duty 4 are the best ever in a multiplayer game - no contest .

An amazing thing in cod4 that will happen alot is shoot-outs between two teams in buildings across the street from each other - then people going back and forth through the street and infiltrating the buildings : giving the game a huge teamwork feel.

god you people are so simple-minded and blind. just because the game has amazing graphics doesnt mean the gameplay is bad, in fact crytek has stressed that gameplay is the most important feature for them. the AI is superb (better than halo 3 id say). the shooting is fun, and the multiplayer is great. the tactical points in teh game are amazing aswell (like take over an aliem weapons base and you'll have the technology to make hyper cool alien weapons). so please, shut up if you havent played it, watched much of it, or even read the great previews...

The maps are bland and boring, the characters are bland and boring, the weapons are bland and boring, the Perk balance is dreadful , the Spawn system is flawed (Jsut like Halo's Team spawn... works on paper, crap in practice).

Take it from someone whos played all these games except UT3. .... CoD4 is and I quote "meh".

Come join us back in reality.

Crysis is the best looking game showcased to date. End of story.

The multiplayer, or at least what I've played of it, is amazing.

The singleplayer looks to be just as good, if not better.

You named the topic after your opinion that Crysis doesn't look great. Then, in your first post, you detail how "looking great" is all Crysis has going for it. Then you back up your claim with the fact that you haven't played it.

In summary, ladies and gentlemen:

- Crysis does not look great.

- Crysis looks great.

- You don't need to play games to judge them.

Set on maximum the graphics and phsyics are the best there is. But that is basicly all there is to the game - just trying to achieve the best graphics and physics out. Even though the game is hardley playable on a normal gaming PC - people are getting really hyped for this. To play this game cost about $1400 *given you don't alredy have a PC*

Even if you have a gaming PC like me - you still will either run the game with really low settings : or need to buy a new graphics card - and even more RAM.

The game really has no shining aspects of it aside from graphics/physics - it dosen't have new amazing features that make current gen games really fun to play . It dosen't have the great features of halo 3 or the amazing level design and really fun shooting like call of duty 4.

In actuallality Crysis is far behind the competition.

:lol:In actuallity, Crysis stops all over Halo 3.

What were the great new features of Halo 3, apart from the things like the Forge? As in actual new features in the gameplay?

Crysis has a massive amount of improvements made to the genre. The graphics are one thing, but the physics shouldn't be dismissed as being just for show, everything in Crysis is destructable, that's a big thing for gameplay. The AI is reported to be amazing, and a big leap, and the very open ended missions and nanosuit are fresh features in the genre. It's doing a lot more new things then Halo 3 and most certainly CoD 4 in it's gameplay.

The A.I. in Crysis is second to none. The open ended, destructable enviroments make the A.I. in the game shine. They always flank, they always work as a team. They run and retreat, regroup, attack with numbers and with stratagy. The player needs to fight this relentless A.I.
