I mean, cmon, seriously. So I downlo:lol:ad the demo,.
let's just forget about the fact that I just spent over $950 in upgrades to run this damn game, in the end was it worth teh money? No way man, not by a long shot. Sure the graphics look pretty decent, but it can't be more original if its life depended on it. Same old island setting, kill the bad guys except this time you have the nano suit. Hermits, are you seriously planning on getting this game?SergeantSnitch
$950 to run a demo? You expect me to believe you went through all of this trouble over a demo even before the real game came out?
Even if this was true, Far Cry was a great game, so just expanding upon it and evolving it a bit would make for a solid sequel.
Fortunately, it's not true. Crysis does retain the best aspects of Far Cry and improves upon them, but the addition of the nanosuit abilities adds loads and loads of depth and combat options to the game. If you don't use the suit abilities, that's your fault for not taking advantage of what the game gives you. But if you do make good use of them, you'll find that Crysis presents a very different experience from Far Cry.
I expected more too. Don't get me wrong, it easily had the best graphics I've seen to date on my 24" 1920x1200 and seems to be extremely open ended. The problem is that hermits have hyped this game to heaven and back for so long that I just wanted to be absolutely blown away by it! I wasn't.
When I played the HL2 demo for the first time years ago... I WAS BLOWN AWAY!! Having completed the demo several times, I can confirm this didn't even have half the impact as HL did on me. But maybe it's just me.
I guess I'll have to wait for Dragon Age or Alan Wake to completely fry my new hardware in my rig, and my mind.
Not saying Farcry is bad, just that, do Hermits really want to spend a fortune to run an updated version of Farcry? I don't see a real evolution in gameplay.
Btw, I spent the money on upgrades so I can run the game when it comes out.
I sure will buy this game :D It looks great, and I like the whole Alien theme that it has. I think you forgot that the whole game does not take place on an island. There is the alien space ship, the aircraft carrier level, and I wouldn't be surprised if there were other locations besides an island. Oh yeah, seeing the island frozen should be pretty cool and change up how the game plays....
BTW Crysis does not = Far Cry
You act as if the upgrades would only benefit Crysis. There are other games coming out ya know. Alan Wake, UT3 to name a few..... Upgrading for Crysis just means you'll be able to play any game for the next few years. You possibly couldn't be a pc gamer, otherwise you would have known that and not have spent $950 to upgrade your computer for one game :roll:Not saying Farcry is bad, just that, do Hermits really want to spend a fortune to run an updated version of Farcry? I've been blown by Crysis and so have many other people. It's just a matter of opinion.
