Looks beautiful still.
One of the most overhyped games ever.
Poorly coded....half the reason it's hard to max it out is b/c it's a technical shit fest.
finally? I'm pretty sure we could have done it years ago.
It be more fitting if they said that we can run Crisis Maxed at 4K now.
Finally!
If anything all this tells me is that the game's engine is poorly optimized.
If I'm not mistaken the problem isn't the GPU it's the CPU. I remember years ago I read a thread on reddit about someone maxing it out with AA with an i7 with an OC of around 5Ghz and either a 7970 or 680. I'm sure that if they make a remastered version that uses the latest Cryengine it would be way more smooth even if it has extra bells and shinny lights, since it would use more than two cores.
Anyways the only thing new on this, is that somehow a 1080 can brute force it's way across this bottleneck.
people still care about Crysis
it was a mediocre and forgettable game praised for it's gfx only which have long since been surpassed
To clarify, Crysis was terribly optimized but also one of my favorite fps shooters ever! Fun as hell for me. 2 and 3 killed my soul a lot. Couldn't finish either of them cuz i hated every second.
@mr_huggles_dog: optimization issues aside, fps games that allow for the freedom of gameplay that Crysis had are very few and far between.
I didn't get that freedom.
The game turned into a stealth game with the cloaking ability. I went around easily killing everyone with the cloaking ability. I never even used the strength ability. The cloaking was completely OP.
Maybe the whole 24hz and building a PC 4 years after it's release and still not able to max it out left a bad taste in my mouth. They didn't even fix the 24hz issue with Crysis 2.
What a shit dev.
The frame rate is already down to 62 fps in this video (image in post #50 in this thread) and even 58 fps later on, the game is much more demanding in later levels. The particle effects that occur when the aliens are shooting in the ground near you even bogs down high end gpus which is odd. That and the game really makes poor use of modern hardware.
There is no question that a modern pc with a gtx 1080 could run this game a whole lot better if it was patched to utilize modern hardware.
Took almost 10 years to max out this overhyped, unoptimized turd and it still doesn't look all that impressive, especially considering that it's nowhere near open world like some people try and claim it is. Just goes to show that Crytek is and always has been a B Teir developer. It's no surprise that Star Citizen development is going nowhere.

You are borderline UninspiredCup level at the moment ... wrangle it in matey.

I used strength quite a bit to jump on buildings or jump over high fences, also throwing soldiers was another one where strength came in handy.
Um no... It's phase change cooling, it's a closed loop system that uses evaporators, compressors and condensers to create sub-zero temperatures at its contact points, typical operating temperatures are sub NEGATIVE 48 degrees...
If you have no idea what you're talking about, don't speak up.
Let's not forget that nitrogen in liquid form boils at 77 K (−195.79 °C/−320 °F) and freezes at 63 K (−210 °C; −346 °F). So there is no way that system he is using is powered by liquid nitrogen. And dry ice sublimes at −78.5 °C/−109.3 °F, meaning it has no liquid form (so it can't be pumped through a cooling system) so no way for that either.
@scatteh316: I'm smelling some BS in this thread. PC gamers love to claim "maxed" but rarely run games that way. Did you notice the CPU usage in the OPs video? CPU power doesn't seem to be the issue... Now the GPU was near load on multiple occasions.
Don't know about others, but I max every single game I play still. Unless it has extremely high anti-aliasing that doesn't make a damn difference and just eats FPS--kind of like Crysis 1.

It was so overhyped, it won shooter of the year over Modern Warfare. Who'da thunk it?

Not sure if that means anything either way.
@scatteh316: waiting
Man you're just desperate to made to look like a compete clueless idiot...
So as my Photobucket account name is different to my System Wars name I uploaded a picture of you begging to owned to my Photobucket account to prove that it is indeed my photobucket, my user name on STEAM and PC centric forums is almighty15 but that was taken on Photobucket so I had to settle for almighty15 + my D.O.B so it became almighty151986.
My Photobucket account with the below pictures can be found here: http://s408.photobucket.com/user/almighty151986/library/?sort=3&page=1
The upload of you begging to be owned:
My LD Phase unit
Another unit one I owned, I eventually strapped to a GPU
My old LD Phase unit with twin EVAPS for when I was running dual Intel i7 980x's at 5Ghz in an EVGA SR2 motherboard ( 12 cores at 5Ghz!! )
A phase unit attached to my old ASUS Crosshair 4 Extreme and a Phenom 2 x6 1075T that was clocked at 4.8Ghz, that clock speed was UN-HEARD of back then on a 6 core CPU and mine was run at that speed 24/7.
Screen capture of the LOAD temperatures on the above ASUS Crosshair 4 Extreme and Phenom 2 x6 1075T when clocked at 4.8Ghz
I've owned and overclocked more high end hardware then you'll ever have in your life BOY........ So consider yourself royally fucking owned and maybe next time you'll think TWICE before calling people out on shit you know **** all about.
Please feel free to have a look through my Photobucket account.
@n64dd - No reply?
Looks like you took a few days to google some images and photoshopped others. Unless I see you holding your user name on a piece of paper next to this, you just made stuff up.
Aahahahaha..... Look at the upload date in my Photobucket...... But yes I photoshopped them..... then went back in time in my Tardis and uploaded them.......
You sir are a fucking looser and got owned to the moon and back.......

Ahahahaha...... picking on typo's because you have no other argument............ And you deserve the extra 'o' as using one just doesn't do your stupid justice.

If you need that explaining then you should consider leaving the internet.

What do you mean?
It's been able to be maxed at 60 fps for quite a while. Was your head in a ditch?
At consistently over 60fps? With 8x MSAA? What card/cards? If the new 1080 can only do it at around 60-70 I can't imagine any past cards could even get 60, I've never had a machine that can do it.
This has more to do with Crysis in hindsight being a inoptimized piece of crap over anything else.

its not because its not optminzed, its the fact that the game's engine was design around directx 9 and only uses two threads which limits cpu and gpu performance. One core from an intel cpu is not enough to feed gpu like 1080(limits from DX9)
The game was optimized quite well for 2007 standards they just pushed the graphics boundary beyond what was available to run it maxed.
