I just finished Crysis and I never felt so attached to the characters in the game. The biggest thing for me was Prophet(the team leader) gets kidnapped early on and when he did I ran after him as if it was possible to go against the scripted scene. Secondly when he some what saves you (when you come out of the alien warship) and gives you the alien minigun. And lastly when Pycho and Nomad decide to save Prophet at the end of the game. When the admiral nukes the island I got sad that he dies but at the end you find out he doesn't and this was a case for joy.

Wow. Umm... no, I can't say I agree. I felt that area was slightly lacking in Crysis.

Sure Crysis has great moments.

You should try playing the Drakness though when Jenny gets captured and what happens though is one of the most emotional things i've seen in a game.

Emotional attatchments in Crysis?

The game has a standard Sci-Fi action movie style plot, and the characters are about as deep as a shallow puddle.

Psycho was awesome.

Well, yes, Sykes was awesome. But I thought him and Prophet were the only interesting characters at all.

Nomad was supposed to be a faceless character and with that brings very little personality.

Ye, Strickland was the typical guy who shouts out you down a radio, but i think he was great, had far more character to him than 95% of the other games that have "shouty guy down the radio"

I love rewatching that cutscene! :D

Crysis just had a standard Sci-fi story. Although I did like Psycho especially in Warhead "I'm British you muppet!" Favorite cutscene:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfRQF72rAYA :D

I strongly disagree, i found Crysis plot and characters pretty generic, nothing to fancy, just your typical marines crew, i have to say that i feel more attached to GLaDOS.

The Darkness wins that category when referring to FPS games.

Even the loading screens were awesome. I remember the one where Jackie flips out about Uncle Paulie and just starts talking about killing him.

one of the sleeper hits of this gen. Its downfall was its gunplay/gameplay overall. If that was more exciting the game would have done better, The Narrative was so awesome.

Ye, as someone said early about Jenny, seriously a shocking moment in gaming, i was like "no way", not something you see in your average game, hit the heart.

The problem with the game is the gunplay, it felt wrong and clunky, trying to shoot lights out with the controller was impossible, even with the crazy auto-aim, was really wishing for a PC port but never came to be.

I liked the gunplay in the game. It was quick and the guns were really satisfying, and you could eat people's hearts.

I especially liked the part where you go through the subways and the homeless people attack you with knives. Hilariously epic.

Crysis was a spectacular game with outstanding set-pieces, however, I did not feel a single attachment to any characters. The only one that was decently likable was Psycho.

Psycho was pretty awesome, specially in Warhead. But no, it wasn't the voice acting or anything, it's just that there wasn't much of a dialogue but the characters had a little bit of personality.and it certainly has much more personality than most(of not all) WRPGs these days.

while I do think Crysis is unfairly labelled as generic and shallow a lot of the time, I wouldn't go as far to say it has the most emotional characters. Then again, what is emotional to you is a very personal thing so no one can really argue with you.

For me, it would have to be a bioware game, either Mass Effect this gen or Kotor last gen.

Yeah, funny thing is Crysis actually has more character than Oblivion. A game that's supposed to be based on the characters and story backing. Oblivion just failed on so many levels though. One of the deepest games I played this gen was The Witcher. That had an astounding amount of role playing and story mechanics.

Uh... Hell no. Hell no. There isn't any emotional attachment to characters in Crysis, hell it does that very, very poorly - its not supposed to be deep or complex. - However Crysis Warhead does a MUCH better job with Psycho - towards the end of the game. Its not an 'emotional attachment' moment, but to see the character simply 'break' was a surprisingly great moment, that was a nice contrast in the aftermath of a mini catastrophe.
