Crysis Is Overrated (Rant)

My PC Rig:

Quad Core 2.5 Ghz
2 Gigs of Ram
SLI 8800 GTX (2 of them)
250 GB HDD
100 Gigabit Internet
Windows Vista Ultimate

I am playing the game on my 1080p TV and I'm playing it on MAX Setting on 1080p.

The game runs at 20 FPS and the lighting in Halo 3 is still better.

Crysis will not win Shooter of the Year. My $2000+ PC can't run the game on MAX, so I don't think a $800 PC can run it on low.

I am upset at Crysis because it doesn't work. Why can't PC games just run like the games on 360?

here is a suggestion, get the new 169.04 Beta Drivers. They improve FPS quite a lot. Also, SLI isn't enabled and only one Core is ever used... Its honestly quite obvious most of the optimizations aren't in the Demo. Just wanted to let you know...

I just used the Crysis Graphics benchmark and got 38fps on High @ 1600x1200 settings on Vista. 20fps on Very High. This is with one 8800gts 640 oc'ed to 650/1000.

Now, consider the fact that 64bit support, SLI, and quad core support are not in the game yet. Followed by the fact that the final nvidia drivers for the game, and the final copy of the game are not out yet. Then throw in the fact that Crytek specifically said they created the game to be futureproof, and to have added value for people who buy the next generation of video cars -- and I think you will find somethign is wrong with your statement.

Vista is your problem...Vista sucks for games. In some cases you can take a 10 fps hit in performance. I ran Crysis in Vista on a P4 3.06 GHZ PC with a X1950 pro and it was a slideshow..I switched back to XP and viola..Smooth framerates galore.

Vista actually runs the game better for me... I run on all Very High settings at 1280x1024 getting a good 30FPS with lows of around 25.

Same here. People fail to realize that Vista has a red line your system needs to be qualifyed to cross. Once you cross that line you will start experiancing higher performance increase.

I agree. I recently spent $3,500 upgrading my PC so I could play Crysis and it's only running at 10fps.

Funny, it runs at 25-35fps (which looks smooth and fast) on my machine which is only:

C2D E6600 @ 3.01GHZ

2GB DDR2 800

8800GTX OC2 @ Ultra Speeds

Now that is a great system still but if you can't beat my framerate then the problem is with your system. L2Setupbetter ;).
