I think they're too different to directly compare, but I do believe that Crysis is up there with other PC greats like Deus Ex, SS2 and the Half-Life games.
A game with the freedom of movement, gunplay and technology behind Crysis, combined with the storytelling and pathos of Half-Life, combined with the critical decision-making and RPG elements of SS2 and Deus Ex = best game ever, by any standard. And I think we'll see it one day. Half-Life 3, perhaps?

Im hoping Valve steps it up with a HL3 with more gameplay elements. But HL2 has good puzzles.
Crysis is better than HL2? Are you for serial?DaysAirlines
I think it is. Half-Life 2 needed more cowbell, and needed to stop trying to make you use substitutes for guns (gravity gun, pheropods ftl). Crysis has tons of cowbell, and the shooting aspect is actually good.
Best Crysis moment for me so far: I'm running all over the place avoiding the chopper, I launch my last missle at it, blows up, I am so happy, but then the wreckage lands right on my head, and kills me.
i say it more of a preference thing here, wat do u like more, the technical aspect or the presentation/story imersion aspect(dunno if that makes sense, just trying to explain wat i mean)halokillerz
I know exactly what you mean, which is why HL2 gets the nod from me.
 The only thing I could see being better in Crysis is its gameplay and graphics. Everything else Half-Life 2 kills it, narratively, artistically, plot, character complexity!Pro_wrestler
The plot and character complexity in HL2 is pretty dismal, actually.
As far as the narrative....I'm finding myself a little more disillusioned after playing HL2 Ep 1. "Oh my God!!! Dog.....Oh my God. God, Gordon! Gordon, I'm so glad we're doing this together. DOG! @#$@$@$! Oh my God, Dog. Dog!"

nah Crysis MP is pretty good, power struggle is a lot of fun.
Um.....so does HL2 online. Packaging CSS and TF2 with the game does not change that.
Imagine if Crytek packaged CSS with Crysis.
Nah. The thing that sets Half-Life apart from the rest of the FPS genre is the story, atmosphere, and characters all woven into one. Something Crysis doesn't have.
Crysis is still a great game though, although it will ultimately play differently
Darn it, I think I will go stand over with the Crysis crowd. ^^ I can make 2 complaints about crysis 1) the frozen waste part of the game, taxes my system 2) You get no feeling from any of the characters in the game, altho the game wants it.
Then again HL2 diddnt get me emotionally bonded with any of the characters either. well I generally liked hl1 better then hl2 which was pretty much like a soap opera.

Well, that bit in Ravenholm with the crazy priest character really struck a cord with me. Actually, that's one of the most amazing moments in gaming for me ever.
He just had such a ridiculous character and the level design was really powerful. Environment really caught you up. Beautiful stuff.
I've never played Crysis, though. I was wrong to say that HL2 Ep 1 disillusioned me to HL2. I just remembered that I've played through HL2 multiple times. That game is really, really excellent and has a lot of interesting moments.
Let's just not put anything on a pedestal, please.

to be fair you can't really compare online/mp since half lfie has none, and going by the demo crysis is a much better game unless ep2 has conaged things. I hate you steam for not updating
[QUOTE="redneckdouglas"]Don't really matter since 70%+ PC gamers can't run Crysis anyways.cobrax75
you dont seem to understanding that the game scales back very very far.
True. But on low settings it looks like complete trash.[QUOTE="cobrax75"][QUOTE="redneckdouglas"]Don't really matter since 70%+ PC gamers can't run Crysis anyways.FrozenLiquid

True. But on low settings it looks like complete trash.true, but even on lowest settings, it looks like Farcry on its highest, which still is a pretty good looking game...especially when you consider the scale.

Are you serious? I don't remember Far Cry looking like utter crap. Sure there are some standouts on low, like the gun models and main characters (who don't seem to change much on every setting), but the foliage and stuff just looks like complete bull.[QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"][QUOTE="cobrax75"][QUOTE="redneckdouglas"]Don't really matter since 70%+ PC gamers can't run Crysis anyways.cobrax75

This does not look better than Farcry on high. In fact, it looks worse than a lot of Xbox 1 games.

That's got AA though. And it's high res. Look at Pro_Wrestler's blog to see what it looks like on medium. That's what medium looks like to me too. Please Log In to post.
