give us linke
I can't find the *exact* quote, but I do have something just as good. "next generation consoles like the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 do not offer the sufficient power" needed for some high-quality Crysis action." http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/30/crytek-says-360-and-ps3-cant-handle-crysis/ And then theres this "Why Can't Crytek Produce a Great Crysis Port? No one is saying they can't, but consoles do have their limitations. Crysis is a very detailed game with an enormous view distance. All that information has to be stored in a quick to reach place which is either the video ram, or the system ram. The next best thing is then the hard-drive. Unfortunately, consoles don't have much ram nor do they have a hard-drive ( which are much faster to read from than discs ). We've already seen how the simple environments in gears of war require many loading interruptions. This makes it hard to imagine how a game such as Crysis could run on a machine with so little quick access storage." http://www.crysis-online.com/Articles/crysis-on-consoles-the-facts-of-the-matter.phpSo the Cell really isn't better than most PC processors? Or is it more complicated than that?pyromaniac223More complicated. The cell is easily the strongest CPU on the market.........for processes that have nothing to do with gaming. CPUs on the PC can easily lap around the cell in gaming proccesses. If you want a super computer for math, sure go for the cell.
Mostly asking this about the PS3, as I recently saw someone claim that, with the Cell, the PS3 has a processor that outstrips that of most PCs, making Crysis on High and Very High easily possible on consoles. As I know next to nothing about the Cell, I thought I would put the question to you. Is the Cell really that powerful?
Sorry, I'm a total technical idiot.

1. Crysis is not game that uses heavily processor
Crysis = loves ram and GIGS of it
2. Devs said no - especialy not Crysis we all know of. Some version with less detail, less huge spaces etc - yes,but THE Crysis - no
3. Cell is not that powerfull, especialy not one used in console lol
The guy who said that cell > pc processors is reading old "hype" articles,he should face facts - crysis in current states is NOT possible on console lol
They cant even run maxed out Oblivion for Gods sake
Yes I think the only console that could handle the game would be the PS3. They are releasing a massive game on the system that no other system could run, and the game is not even running all of the systems power. The PS3 has more processing speed than most computers, and the innards of the system are very powerful. I would say the PS3 could easily run the game.XxShadowTongyxX
Hmm you dont know a lot do you? Crysis = ram and your ps3 clearly lacks some
+ you are reading some really old "cell is asm" "truth about cell" articles + those "mentioned awesome cells" are not same as one in ps3 afaik
There is difference between CELLS used in supercomputers and ones used in ps3 lol

Its called PR
It's called "lacking sufficient RAM" :)
[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"]"...not in its current state" -Crytek.Cecil7
Its called PR
Its called lack of RAM. Besides, the Publisher is in charge of PR. Guess who that is? The multiplatform She Devil EA. I'm sure if they could port it, they would. They really think that "i dont know what, mybe cell and video memory" can handle so much objects and textures?
Hell even i with 3 g ram have problems
+ Oblivion say "HELL NO" anyone remember DRAW DISTANCE on consoles??? HAHA
Or even FAR CRY VEGNANCE hahahah draw distance was like 10 meters lolol
So the Cell really isn't better than most PC processors? Or is it more complicated than that?pyromaniac223
It cannot run on consoles at it's max settings, although I'm sure they could scale it down turn off all AA, lower the resolution, and put the settings on medium/high and it'd run at a good 30-40FPS.Saturos3091
HAHA!
Console cant even run Oblivion on more than Medium-low with something on high
+ framerate was reaaaallly unstable
It is most likely not possible as it is right now because even a 280 card can only offer 20-25 FPS on it.
However, you can make it play on NES if you wanted provided you strip it down enough.
if Far Cry 2 is possible Crysis is also possible ( but it willl look worse)AtrumRegina
Isn't Far Cry 2 on consoles run at medium settings or something like that?

Yes you are.
The only system that might have a chance is the xbox 360 since Crysis is a GPU heavy game. There is no way in hell that the RSX (a stripped down 7800GTX) can run Crysis at decent settings.
I love how 99% of polls in SW have a third option which is something completely stupid and unfunny that has nothing to do with the question.

Ham sammich is relevant to everything.

in the sense that it could be done, yes. but it would probably look like Half-Life 2 when they tried to port it to the original xbox. not a pretty sight.
