Old.
CryENGINE 2 is being ported to the PS3. Don't get your hopes up, because this doesn't mean the PS3 is getting Crysis.
CryENGINE 2 is currently being ported to the PS3 and Xbox360 for licensing purposes only (as of yet). This does not mean either console is getting Crysis, and even if it does, it will not look as good graphically.rykaziel
Doom 3 and Half LIfe 2 looked pretty good on the first Xbox which was a shocker.

They didn't look even close to as good as the PC versions though.
Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 were BOTH limited to a resolution of 480p (terrible by PC standards of the time.) On top of that, detail in both games underwent heavy reduction due to hardware limitations. Especially in the area of texture resolutions.
These were also games late in the Xbox's life cycle.

Heh, i'm not really surprised.

ummm...crysis isnt out yet...go play more lost planet
Why play an average game? Lost Planet isn't out yet for the PC either btw. :|
If Crysis appears anywhere else it's a PC port...hence me saying what i said. And in no way does your source actually cite that Crysis is appearing anywhere else but the PC. I'll wait for a GS announcement, thanks. ;)

I don't really care either way since i'll be playing it on my PC. Just think it's ironic that Crysis is wanted so much by console sheep when all they do is bash PC gaming.

CS 1.6 is greater than just about any FPS on a console IMO (playing with a controller is teh suck). That's not even mentioning games like UT2004, CS:Source, Team Fortress, HL2Deathmatch, Call of Duty, BF2142, etc.
So are you buying Crysis on PC then? If you're getting UT3 on PC then i'd assume you can most certainly run Crysis fairly well.
Wow they have to hire someone to make for the Ps3? Must be a real pain in the butt.
Fruity_Fantasy
typically devs have to hire somebody to make the game otherwise how would the game be made? j/w btw
PS3 doesn't have enough memory to run crysisMCGSMB
Not at "max" as it is on PC anyways. Or likely even "medium," given the scale of Crysis' environments.

not my current one. when UT3/crysis is released AMD quad cores will be out publicly, which will drive the price down for high end dual core models. and the 8800 will be alot cheaper too, making an sli ready beast is all about timing :P

Ah ok. I simply need about another 1gb of ram (of which i will be getting put in over the summer) before i can play Crysis. 1gb of ram is cheap though...i might put another gb of ram in there just for kicks to be honest.
I've already got a AMD dual core processor. :) Prices will go down on them though, no doubt.
in the most recent interview with crytek on gamer tv (interview can be downloaded at www.incrysis.com They say that they intend to port the engine to the consoles, but they don't have any plans on porting crysisSystemShock2
Well of course they are going to port cry2engine to the consoles. That's where the money is. From licencing, selling games etc. Who buys PC games? 80% of people go and download certain game they want from internet. Also how many PC will be able to run Crysis? If they sell 100.000 units of Crysis they should be happy.

They sold 3 million copies of FarCry. Well given some recent indications that Crysis will require at least 2GB of RAM - I don't believe any console will even remotely run Crysis. You know WHY Crysis requires 2 GB's of RAM on the PC? Because of Windows, especially Vista which is a RAM hog and wont help your computers performance. Consoles have miniscule OS's and they hardly require much memory. I am sure Cell's multiple SPE's can compensate for the amount of system RAM the PS3 has. Still though RSX has its own independent RAM, whereas the 360's video RAM is shared with the system RAM.

Exactly, Doom 3 played on an Xbox with 64mb of RAM, 512 were needed on the PC.

Uh.. like I said in another thread, that whole 'Because of Windows' thing started back when PC's had 256-512MB of RAM. Now we're using the exact same OS, except we have 2048-4096MB of RAM. Does Windows XP magically eat up more RAM five, six years down the line? No. Windows takes something like 100MB on my computer, though I killed off most extraneous services/themes. PC games just legitimately eat up tons of RAM now - if you'd like I can probably find you screenshots of Supreme Commander's system memory usage clearing 2GB+. The only real way to compensate for a lack of RAM is to cut down on the size of things - be it levels, textures, or how much is being loaded into memory at one time (ie streaming).in no way does that mean you will get crysis.

No it's not which means Crysis will have to undergo a MASSIVE DOWNGRADE to run on 360 and ps3. And dont even get me started on the ps3's memeory issues...

Well, my point was that Vista's a piece of ****.
PC gamers (that includes me) will have to upgrade to Vista eventually, spending nearly $200 on a product that does very little to improve and may even run worse than Windows XP. Vista isn't even 25% original. Nearly all of it's features, excluding the flying windows feature were copied from Apple.
I mean, for christ's sake, Apple invented Widgets, Windows stole that idea and called them Gadgets.
