having the best physics and graphics out of any game in existance, destructible enviroments, map builder that is damn near developer quality, fancy nano suit with cool powers. since when does everything have to be new to be an amazing game? you cant deny Crysis is the more technological marvel by far, no game can touch crysis in those areas, its amazing.

Crysis looks better but Bioshock looks really good also so graphics are not a big deal for me between the two. I prefer the artistic style of Bioshock a lot more though. I prefer the under water 1920s style world. From the videos I have seen about Crysis I did not see anything that great in the gameplay besides graphics and the physics. Bioshock though seems to have a better story,RPG elements, enemies seem to have better AI.

It took you 3 words to screw up this thread:

Both look originalqead

To even put Crysis on-par with Bioshock's originality is simply outrageous. Bioshock gets 110% of my vote as Bioshock is in it's own league. Crysis is nothing more then graphical eye candy, just as Far Cry was.

i wasnt trying to take anything away from bioshock, looks like a great game, and i will for sure buy it for PC, just crysis has the best graphics, physics, and with the pure stature of that engine, im sure AI.

I may be heavily opinionated, but I'm certainly not crazy. I expect to be flamed by the rabid e-peen-focused hermits who would rather show off the thousands of dollars that go into their rig then play a decent game, but I honestly don't care. Advances in gameplay are far more important then advances in technology.

The fallacy in your argument is that Hermits have BioShock, Crysis, AND all of BioShock's forebears, so they know exactly what they're in for.

From what we've seen, BioShock emulates System Shock 2 to the T, and doesn't do a whole lot new other than the usual graphical and stylistic updates. First we have to see if they haven't gone backwards by removing gameplay depth.

I'm not saying that Crysis will be better, but to give BioShock that much faith over Crysis for that particular reason is simply unfair.

I'm going with Bioshock. I've been hooked on sci-fi FPS/RPGs since System Shock 2. Not to say that Crysis hasn't peaked my attention, it has, but there is so little information about the actual gameplay that it's hard for me to get hyped over.

Perhaps "better" wasn't quite what I was aiming at, but rather, "refreshing". With shooters slowly moving into an assembly line of generic outcome after generic outcome, we need titles like Bioshock to help reinvent the idea of a shooter. It's titles like Doom that suffer when the once-c|assics are thrown into this assembly line, and titles like Doom 3 are churned out. While Bioshock may or may not be the success that I believe, it's the idea behind the game that will hopefully forever change the industry. Developers will begin to question their products, and they will begin to attempt this "reinvention" -- if Bioshock can get it right, others will follow.

Bioshock is going to be just another one of those generic shooters. It looks like it's going to be just like Prey, Doom 3, Quake 4. Just another shallow shooter.

At least Crysis looks fun to play. Bioshock is the same old **** I've seen time and time again where the anticipation is better than the product.

Bioshock is a lot more original than Crysis. Alls we've seen from Crysis is pretty graphics. Now that's not a bad thing, but the gameplay compared to Bioshock is quite subpar. (from what I've seen/read) (also, my own opinion).

Eat your words and do some research before you post again. Bioshock is anything besides "generic." It is taking what we have seen in the FPS genre over the past decade, giving it a shot of adrenaline to try and super-charge things again and make the genre fun to play again. If you think Bioshock is going to be shallow, I would hate to see your opinion about actual shallow and generic shooters.

Bioshcok is no more original than Crysis. You've obviously never have played or heard of System Shock 1&2 (Bioshock is pretty much SS3, even GS thinks so after playing), Deus Ex, or STALKER. This type of gameplay has been done before.

The fallacy in your argument is that Hermits have BioShock, Crysis, AND all of BioShock's forebears, so they know exactly what they're in for.

Cycloptis

I'm not arguing as a sheep, a lemming, a cow or a hermit -- platforms are playing no role in my argument. I understand that hermits have both titles, but the clear "rig show-off" title would be Crysis.

Part of what makes Bioshock so unique is the setting, which is one that we haven't seen before. While the idea of Rapture is unimportant to this argument, the basis for that city, the idea of choosing a setting which the industry has yet to see is of the utmost importance. Right now, shooters fall under 3 main markets: sci-fi/aliens, modern/near-future, WWII; however, there are other obvious niche settings which I won't bother naming. To show that there can be success in a unique setting may push developers forward. Crysis is what... a combination of options 1) and 2)?

On the gameplay front, Bioshock is quite similar to System Shock 2; however, the changes are what make it industry-moving. If Oblivion is any indication, the way to get attention is to turn away from overly-complex, hardcore gameplay, and closer to what people commonly see, while throwing in interesting, new mechanics. In essence, I expect Bioshock to follow the (System Wars term) "casualization" of the series, which both The Elder Scrolls, and Fallout have previously gone through. Unlike System Wars however, I would much rather have more people enjoy a game that I love, thus I embrace this idea with open arms. The game will be a lot less "RPG-y", but it will be a shooter-RPG hybrid. It will be a horror/survival title. It will most undoubtedly be fantastic -- that's all I care about.

Remember: to properly move things forward, you need to be successful. With a niche-hardcore title, which you could arguably label System Shock 2 as, things won't budge.

There's A TON of information on the gameplay. Just as much, if not more than Bioshock. My god, people on SW are really uninformed. Just because there aren't many articles on GS about doesn't mean there isn't a lot of info on it. Go to incrysis.com or crysis-online.com. There are hundred of very good articles pretaining to all aspects of Crysis.

Bioshock isn't reinventing anything. It's gameplay has been done before. It's more of an evolution than revolution.

I've seen the gameplay videos and interviews with developers talking about all the little things you can do. It doesn't do anything new, let alone anything to convince me that it's reviving the genre.

Bioshock reminds me of Prey.

A month or two ago I would have probably said Bioshock. Right now though, I'm having reservations on how that game will pan out, so my vote goes to Crysis.
