I see no downgrade.
It is Far Cry 1.5 in terms of gameplay though. Thats not a dig, Far Cry was fun, and this is a slicker, slightly more refined version of that, with some platformer/arcade FPS style power ups through your nanosuit.
I honestly think Unreal3 looks better than this game, but thats not the big thing with Crysis. The main deal is that it still looks fantastic, and features very large levels, better enemy AI and physical interaction with the world.
It will probably be a very good game in the end, just don't go into playing it, expecting that it will be gameplay nirvana, or a revolution in FPS play. Its not. Its Far Cry, improved overall and with interesting tech behind it.

Oh..come on..if crysis is Far Cry 1.5 than UT3 is UT2004 1.1 :)
Crysis should be better optimized. the requirements are STEEP.
I'm sure some will enjoy this game, but you shouldn't compare it to Far Cry as there is a sequal in the works for that.
Um.....you do realize the "Very High" option was diabled, right?comstrikeiscool
Its the demo not the beta Jeeez
dude the TC is retarded or something cuz that second set wasnt even DX10. they had an article about this awhile back showing the difference between using DX10 and DX9 and that sure as hell aint no DX10.djxaquaxblue
U r retarded go to Crysis launch center they clearly said the demo is running in dx10
So then what is Far Cry 2?Blackbond
See the search bar on the top of this page, type in far cry 2. Comes out Q2 2008
I thought the same as the TC until i saw this

Are you wearing your glasse? If not then go get it
[quote="Teufelhuh"]AA works fine for meVandalvideoWhenver I turn it on it just reverts back to off.
That happened to me. You need to add the necessary AA options, hit apply, wait a few moments, and hit back--then exit the menu screen.
Its looking worse, blowing up Pcs, running slow as crap. Whats next?
Big_Black_Eyes
Lol, what does faulty and low performance hardware got to do with the graphics?
what is the logic behind pc games not being able to be downgraded. Also, Crysis ground texture is nowhere near this:

Failed comparison, the first set is maxed out in DX10, the second set looks like medium settings to me. HDR doesn't even seem to be on :|
By the way, Crysis @ medium looks better than any console game out there.

Actually, it does. Try playing the game in DX10, or at least look at some user screenshots before opening your mouth and commenting on something you have no clue about.
Wow. Where to start?
Firstly, there is no "very high" in the demo, it is disabled. If you had the demo, you would know that; but you DON'T know that, so that means you don't have the demo, therefore you are a liar.
Secondly, since you don't have the demo, and are a liar, I can only assume that you also weren't in the beta, and if you weren't in the beta OR the demo, then you haven't played Crysis.
Thirdly, those screens STILL look awesome.
In conclusion, you haven't played Crysis, so you don't know jack about squat.

Obviously, you haven't tried experiencing the slideshow that is "very high" in the Crysis demo. Play in DX10 mode. You can choose it.
And yeah, the textures on very high aren't as good as the older screens showcased. Qarl's Texture Pack is better, let alone FakeFactory's Cinematic Mod pack for Half Life 2.

Isn't DX10 supposed to offer *better* performance? Then again, Crysis is "supposed" to let me turn off AA... :?
Lol I'm not sure if it does. I don't think it does though.
What's up with your AA problem? You can't turn it off?

I must be the only person on the planet who played through the demo with every setting at very high, DX10, and at 1680x1050 resolution, and it was smooth and very playable. Sometimes I have to wonder if people even bother turning off their background programs before they boot up games like this, or if they leave stuff like anti-virus running . I've basically tweaked Vista down to its bare bones, killed every service running that I didn't need and removed that Aero bs, etc. And I did that long before Crysis came along.
There are people with better rigs than me who can't seem to run the game at the settings I run them at. I haven't even turned down any settings from very high, nor the resolution. It only ever turns into a slide-show when I turn on AA, which I feel is pointless to do since jaggies are almost entirely unnoticeable when I'm playing, because of the high res and the great depth of field/motion blur.
And I don't really see a problem with Crysis' textures. Then again, I'm not nitpicky type.

Hmm....
I'd rather not turn off all my background apps though because to me their necessary.
And if you got it working at a playable framerate, you should tell all those that are frustrated with it. Coz a lot of people are getting angry about it. I'm sure a lot of people are willing to do more than me to get it running smoothly.
As for textures, I'm a texture whore lol. Perhaps it's my comp, but Oblivion mods and HL mods didn't have the same problem.
