No. Definitely not.
I think the actual physics on Crysis are very comparable to Half Life 2, it's just done on a much bigger scale.
But no, Crysis isn't the new Half Life. Crysis is the new Far Cry.

Comprehension is your friend.
Half Life 2 was near perfect. There were some small things that would stop you from believing the overall effect of gravity.
Same with Crysis. As much fun as it is picking up a tree and using it as a diguise to infiltrate a Korean outpost, the effect of throwing it away is a little less than stellar. Once I threw the object and it started pushing itself in the most awkward move like it was being moved by the Force. Other times, it has the ability to stand upright.
And it still has that annoying way of barrel physics where the damn thing turns end over end or spins so rapidly it's unbelievable. It's so prevalent in Halo 3 it's an eyesore, and it rears its ugly head again in Crysis.
crysis wishes. But yes, while playing Half life 2, i have though of the similarities too.Always-Honest
Like bottles in the buildings lol.
Chucking those never got old in HL2. They never get old here either.

Yeah, I used to frequently smash bottles, too - until the car-welder guy yelled at me.

i smash everything there is.. it's fun.. gotta like those physics.. would have liked Gary's mod on 360...
Physics in Crysis are noticably improved over HL2. Just compare Episode 2, which has the most advanced physics from the Source engine to date, to Crysis with physics on very high. There's no comparison. Shoot a tree down and if the leaves hit water, they look like drenched leaves. So many random little touches like all over the place. None of those big physics-based events in Episode 2 were nearly as impressive as simply tossing an enemy through the roof of a shack and watching it collapse.Zeliard9
I see no drenched leaves?
Which settings would I have to turn up to 'very high' apart from physics?

I'm not actually sure, since I have everything on very high but shadows and post-processing. But when you shoot trees, and even some of the leaves hit water, they should basically look like they're softer and sort of drenched, noticeably different from the dry leaves.

Ok I'll try that lol.
You had to take out the leaves to view them right?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by take out the leaves. Pretty much the only thing you have to do is knock down a tree that's leaning towards water, so that at least some of its leaves hit the water, and then you should see the effect.
It's not something I've really done purposefully, just noticed it at various points and thought it was a neat little detail, such as oil spilling from the barrels if you shoot them and realistically spilling out onto sand or water. The oil will actually start trickling out more slowly as the barrel gets emptier, until it stops. If it spills in the sand the oil looks like it gets soaked up, and if the barrel is in the water the oil will leak out and mix in with the water as you'd think it would. The game's full of these neat little details.
Do you leave footprints in the sand at your graphical settings? On Delta they'll actually follow your footprints if they see them. Maybe on other difficulties, too, I dunno.

Sorry I meant if you took that shot-down bit of tree out onto the sand. Do you think you could take a pic of it at yoru settings? I ain't seeing it on my computer.
But yeah, the tracks on the sand are left there permanently from what I'm seeing. Bodies, for some very odd reason, do not :?.

Two completely different types of FPS.
Its like comparing Rouge Spear to Quake
No... Half Life EVOLVES FPSs, it doesn't simply round them all up and put them into one (agh I forgot that word...)
Crysis is taking cues from a lot of the greatest FPSs of all time and is putting them together, whereas Half Life literally changes the genre.

Like... Crysis - all around good
Half life - revolutionary.
I'll put it in terms we can all understand.
Crysis - chocolate cake. we know it and love it and it's got all we want
Half Life - some wierd french *@$# you've never heard of but it beats the pants off you with its awesomeness.

"Hey, I was drinking that!"
Technically, Half Life 2 Eps 1,2, and 3 = Half Life 3.Brmarlin
Maybe, but the next Half-Life game after the episodes (assuming that they make more) will be called Half-Life 3.
Well there may be no whole new half life for some years down the row, but do you think crysis fills its shoes for now with the next evolution in physics based first person shooters? Yes or no? Looking at the upgrades from half life 1 to half life 2, do you seem the same kind of changes that one would expect going from 2004s HL2 to Crysis? Is crysis the NEW half life with a different character and new story?novasypder77
Technically, Crysis is half life four. HL: ep. 1 + 2 make up 2 2/3's of half life 3. lol

there will never be another half-life.
