CRYTEK Could actually save PS3.. HERES WHY

Crytek is a company that makes games for highly advanced, super computer like PCs. All the complaints about devs having a hard time to make games for the PS3 are devs that are use to the simple last gen console hardware. This PS3 isnt the usual Gaming Console, it is super computer like and who else besides crytek would know how to utilize the PS3s hardware?! I mean that is Crytek's speciatly, designing games for hihgly advanced, high End PCs.

Now dont get me wrong, Im not saying that the PS3 is on the same level as DX10 and those extemely high end PCs BUT its close! Crytek could very well be the Devs that breaks the mold for the PS3 and puts the PS3 on the map. If anyone can break the "Cell Broadband engine" code, it would definitly be crytek. Thats there playing field

Of course, but you can't get too optimistic about it, even they may have trouble developing for the PS3.

Yes, the PS3 is a supercomputer that is even worse than an Athlon 64 2800+ ... ya, supercomputer ... none of the consoles are actually supercomputers. gnutux

It's much more complicated than you make it seem.  Plus, Crytek would have to be on a stable financial level to invest into developing heavily for the PS3.  And it's not like Crytek is the only company who knows how to work with super computers.  Actually, just because they do work with supercomputers doesn't mean they know how to utilize the PS3 effectively.  The PS3 is vastly different than most other supercomputers due to its vastly different architecture.  One has to know inside and out what the console can handle, where its weaknesses are, and where its strengths are.

Some people are just morons I swear, console processors are nothing compared to what you even have in your home PC right now. You guys need to quit thinking your so called super computer is gonna save your already outdated game console. And no PS3 won't run crysis or any other game like it, the GPU is based on the 7800 nvidia card and the 8800 that runs it flawlessly is about twice as powerful as the 7800. The xbox is somewhere in between the 2 so it could have a chance but would most likely have to be toned down

So apparently a super computer is a PC? That makes no damn sense, you mention super computers and PCs which is ultimately the same thing.

Programming for a current high-end PC would be a whole different than programming for the PS3.  Not even close.  But still, if they have talented programmers, I'm sure they can make cool stuff happen.

Also Crytek also develops around Direct X which PS3 can't do so it will make it harder for them to bring the engine to ps3 but they are coming out with some spin off of crysis to both ps3 and 360.

You forget that PS3 has 1/5 of a super pc ram, or less, and that supercomputers of today are very much less different than computers of yesterday, WHILE PS3 is very very different in its cpu than pc CPU's

Plus the most possible scenario is that they are already making the engine for 360 as trhey have confirmed, plus they are looking for people that are able to harness PS3 hardware, so it is far more possible to see Crysis on 360 first
